Apologies if this is the wrong place for this poat, but the book has been out for a couple of months now, and without support from the rugby press its hard getting word out!
Nearly 100 long-gone rugby teams from West Yorkshire are featured in a new 400-page book by sports historian Rob Grillo.
West Yorkshire’s Long Lost Rugby Clubs is a look at almost one hundred long gone rugby clubs that have been and gone since the early years of the sport in the late 1800s. Former professional clubs such as Bramley, Manningham, and the original Bradford and Leeds clubs are featured, alongside many of the lesser names from the Huddersfield, Halifax, Wakefield, Leeds and Bradford districts (plus one or two more from outwith those ares)
Also explained are the reasons why these clubs did not stand the test of time, particularly those that felt they had no choice but to join the Northern Union (Rugby League) just after the Great Split of 1895.
The book also includes every Yorkshire Challenge Cup result (including qualifying rounds) prior to World War One, as well a myriad of other local and regional cup and league competitions up to 1914. Available in hardback (grey cover) & paperback (red cover) editions.
