Bad day at the office for TO. Still, 2nd in the league though, so it's not all doom and gloom. A new fullback on the way, so they can forget about this afternoon and look forward to the Easter weekend. Sheffield will give most teams a run for their money at home.

Based on what I've seen so far Sheffield on their own patch will be a handful for Toulouse.
I would agree. Their skinny squad is showing quite thin even this early in the season.

Does anyone know if the Sheffield match will be on the radio? I know I shouldn't put myself through another match like last Saturday but it would be nice to feel as though I am participating

Just strikes me as odd that FT Toulouse must play on a Saturday but PT Barrow travelling back from West Yorkshire at 10pm on a Monday night is fine.
Maybe 3pm Saturday games are better for the part time teams and it benefits everyone?

Sheffield vs Toulouse would be an ideal TV game. Why is it that a full time team can only play on Saturday afternoons?
Flight schedules maybe? and ground share issues. I could be more to do with the league spreading the games out over a weekend as well. If I get a chance to collar Cedric I will ask him. Maybe the Fév TO match will be on OurLeague

Harvie Hill on loan to TO has been announced now. I like the idea of young fringe players being given the opportunity to play at a decent level. I would prefer young French players but there doesn't seem to be many props available. Let's see what he can bring to the party.

Said after the game that Widnes threw it away. Watching that back Toulouse have already dropped the ball before Craven puts in the late hit and gets himself sin binned. Madness!!!
I lost the radio commentary just at the moment a few minutes from the end when TO gifted Widnes the ball back 5m out. I expected the result to have been a Widnes win when I got 'tinternet back

Are you sure on that one? He did his MCL in 2018 with Widnes at Salford on a grass pitch. I have vague memories of him doing his ACL with the academy but not sure whether it was on that pitch or not.
Just going on what no1 son relayed. ACL, PCL or MCL we will know for sure next week after a scan.

Yes, didn't look good at all. He still has his house in Widnes doesn't he?
Possible ACL, which he has done twice before, both on the same pitch.

I think Calum will give them a different option at hooker.
Benjamin Laguerre is also missing. Any news on when he's gonna return?
3 months post op is normal, he didn't get the Op till 3 weeks after a decision was made so maybe begining of June. He is young though which is always a help.

Also missing stephani , lima and callum. Loosing OAB early and lattrell for the second half.
Hopefully 2 of those back for Sheffield next week

Also missing Calum Gahan
I sort of don't include him as he never started the season. We've not seen him play yet so I don't know if missing him is good or bad. I am looking forward to when he's fit though

Not being familiar with the Toulouse team anyone know if this was a strong/weak side.
It is the only team TO have...only missing Sita and Dom. Still relying on Elite players otherwise they would be really struggling.
Thanks for the description, I lost the commentary 3 minutes from the end which didn't help my blood pressure.
I will give an update on OAB when I have something but it will probably be mid week after a scan. I guess Robin Brochon will be playing full back for a few weeks now.

Widnes should have won, just kept shooting ourselves in the foot.
Listening over 'tinterweb it sounded like no one wanted to win

4-10 mi-temps at Widnes, Olly AB off with a bad ankle injury. For once, the radio commentary isn't too partisan

It'll be a hard game against Toulouse. Not going against my own club!
I agree. I think Widnes are on a roll and full of optimism. TO have a habit of switching off mid-game and are going to have to be 100% focused to get something out of this match. I don't see them putting 70 past Widnes like last year.

With eggs being as rare as rocking horse poo at the moment, struggling to believe anyone would waste them like that.
Not at all related to the rugby but where have all the eggs gone? Easter bunny been hiding them already? It's not something I had realised was missing in the UK.

Stephane Guillon is in the 21 man squad this weekend to face Bradford.
If it's the big hooker that plays for the TO Elite team he looks like a good prospect
Guillon played last Saturday, he came on for Péllisier. You are right, he's a big lad isn't he ! He won't get pushed over easily

I agree, the fact that two or three potential targets ended up with Fev strongly suggests that.
It would be interesting to see a breakdown of their costs. Sarrazain said they have a budget of 4 million euros this year. I understand the costs of flights and also those of running the Elite 1 and junior squads, but to a lot of Championship teams that will sound an enormous sum of money.
Don't forget Hankinson also, the club couldn't agree to his terms. I wonder where Bernard got his 4 million from as it's not all spent on the staff that's to be sure. Some of that budget is for debt repayment (maybe the next president can bring something to the table). As a club they do run more teams than most Championship teams, they have rugby schools from U5 upwards, but I would agree with you in the main that they will have more than most, but that's what you have to cough up if you want to be a fully professional team.

I would imagine they have spent similar to Fax maybe 450-550k which is obviously a long way off big spenders Fev, Toulouse and Bradford and maybe a touch less than Widnes and York. This year has certainly seen a bit of a jump for them though.
You would be shocked if you knew how little Toulouse have spent. If they had money, then they wouldn't have started the season with 19 players and expecting the Elites to step up.

Pretty depressing, Toulouse have gone considerably backwards since their last Championship season i’m afraid. Can’t see the backers sticking around for another season at this level either.
We parked next to an Aston Martin DBX In the carpark yesterday. I'm hoping that is either the new president's car, or the main shirt sponsor turning up to watch. That is equivalent in value to paying for TO's travel this year.

Good to see some Whitehaven fans made the journey, and to the team, who can take solace in the fact that they are the 1st team to score at Ernest Wallon this season

"Reckless and deliberate physical contact with the referee"
For Joe being binned, he ran over, grabbed the ref and suggested that it deserved a binning. TO raised it in their after match report to the league.
Belmas got a fine as it was a 1st offence, so he has to be on his best behaviour for a while.
The shirt sponsorship will be announced in due course.

I've not heard Escaré's name mentioned. There are 2 others I've heard who have been contacted, one from Elite and one from overseas. I was hoping they would stick with Brochon. If this year is a rebuilding exercise then with one eye on the future, it is imperative to bring in the French youngsters.
Sheffield do have a lot better side this season, however, when I asked what positives could be taken from the Toulouse performance I was told "none" and I quote, "they were ######".
