I knew this has come up before but this is mental.....absolutely mental

    Surely a Saturday or Sunday

Who in the name of God decided to put it on a Thursday?

    I'm guessing Sky did.

There are still a lot of people on Holiday here, most would be back at the weekend as the new school term starts on the 1st. But as this week is when there is very quick turn around for teams, it would have to have been Thursday or Friday.

We will be there anyway, possibly the last home SL game for a while so it would be churlish to miss this one after being to all the others.

I’m with Dave T on this. It’s sexual assault.

It really should be a police matter, far too serious to be dealt with in house.

In France that is considered rape.

However, where is the line where crimes are committed on private property, or in the public domain?

If a player has his career ended due to a nasty head shot/spear tackle, is that a criminal offence too?

And don't get me started on the racist abuse some players get from some members of the crowd. They would be criminal acts too done anywhere else outside a sports stadium.

Can you get the police involved or would they deem this a civil matter?

Yes, people, millions of them,  do still read the Sun. The Sun's latest reported daily circulation was 1.2 million copies, making the Sun possibly still the biggest selling print paper, though the Mail may well have overtaken the Sun by now. Circulation of print titles is dropping rapidly  by between roughly 10 and 20 percent a year, though the Mail is falling at a slower rate than the Sun.  Readership is usually higher than circulation and that applies to the Sun just as much as to any other paper. For comparisons,  the Daily Mirror circulation is around 300, 000, around one quarter of the Sun's figures. However,  since the Sun, along with The Guardian, only reveals its stats to advertisers, the very latest figures for the Sun and the Guardian may be incorrect. So yes, people do still read the Sun. HTH.

It was a rhetorical question to be honest but thanks for the analysis.

The radio Leeds commentary is like two blokes having a chat in the pub, it's dire.

Better than the BBC Radio Manchester commentary at the moment.

I'm wishing I had gone with the Mrs to the Haras in Tarbes this afternoon rather than subject myself to this match with Wigan imploding in this match.

Considering TO have their next game *checks notes* ... at Wigan.

Yes 8 out of ten calls raised by Toulouse. Who clearly are only going to raise calls they think are wrong. So that doesn’t mean the ref got 80% of calls wrong in the game.  Are you sure it was 8 out of 10 as you didn’t mention that in the original post just 80%.

    8 out of 10 is 80%

The clubs are allowed to raise 10 issues they think are valid to the referring panel. Of those 10 TO raised 8 were upheld, hence 80%.

It's not a comment on the total match, just the 10 points raised.

Can you expand on the rumours about TO moving back to the French system? Where have you heard it and what is the thinking behind it?

It is just rumours though at the moment, I'm close but not super close to what's going on.

I know a couple of players will be retiring at the end of this season so they will have to rebuild again.

I wish now that Remi had stayed on for one last hurrah to be honest, i still think his presence on the pitch would have been enormous this season in defence.

If they want to build a 2nd french team, behind Catalan's then where do they get the home grown talent from? Those that are left after Catalans have hoovered up the rest?

Leigh brought approx 3000 new fans to the sport when promoted in 2016. Our sponsorship I am informed was in the top 6 by £ and the main sponsor was Slater Gordon Solicitors, one of the biggest and turning over circa £200m at the time

more recents businesses attracted to the club are global brands BCEGI and Struktura ES, both with multi Billion turnover.

    hope this helps

You will find that big enterprises will spread sponsorship money across various platforms

Well, the odd bitter "neutral" poster was clearly worried once again that Toulouse were going to win and quite possibly stay up, but were happy in the end to see that Super League Europe is destined again to become that little bit further less "super" next season with "Europe" reduced to a postage stamp sub area of northern England plus Catalan. However, I think that the less one-eyed amongst us see that Toulouse really should have stayed up with something to spare with the number of games that they have been ahead in, and with the sheer bad luck of losing two key players as a consequence of covid at the dawn of the season. Looking forward though, I fully expect them to come straight back up and stay up next time. They've made a much better fist of it than some of the feeble recent efforts of promoted teams and will come back stronger and cement their place in the league with a steadily increasing fanbase in a large city. Good effort Toulouse, but not quite enough this time. See you back in super League in 2024.

I would like to point out, with 4 games left, that Toulouse have yet to be relegated.

(and Leigh have yet to be promoted)

For what it's worth, my views on Toulouse-

They aren't good enough to stay up, they are still essentially a championship squad

They didn't recruit well in the close season

They didn't react swiftly enough to the loss of Kheirallah, Ford, Vaivai

    Their discipline has been poor

They have been disadvantaged (disgracefully) by the requirement to fund travel

They were disadvantaged by the late promotion and ability to sign quality players

They have been disadvantaged (on the basis of the last two games) by some poor refereeing. They rarely seem to win the 50/50 calls, Moore last week penalised them three times for incorrect ptbs whilst allowing the opposition to get away with the same thing. The two sin bins last night would not have been given against a Leeds or StHelens.

I'm not one for conspiracy theories but the RFL do not seem overly welcoming of a second French team (the travel costs, the refereeing, the fixture scheduling)

Probably another lost opportunity for RL. Still, the chance for plenty of local derbies next year along the M62 and hordes of visiting fans (maybe).

    Mixed bag that post.

They didn't recruit well in the close season

    and

They were disadvantaged by the late promotion and ability to sign quality players

In my mind are mutually exclusive. Promoted Championship sides are immediately under pressure as all the "good" players have signed contracts by mid-august.

The 350K they have to find for the travelling teams each year would be better spent on players (French or otherwise).

Although, IMO.... 350K would have been better spent on getting a TV sponsor, so that we get a video ref, a couple of games this season (Wigan at home springs to mind) and they would have won. 350K well spent IMO.

The referring has been awful (the recent Hicks game, 8/10 of his calls raised by TO to the Ref boss were upheld).... you get 1 or 2 calls wrong people will forgive you, but 80% ?

The Kheirallah/Ford debacle, well,  that was outside of their control but fair play to wanting to keep some integrity in the club. Would they have been up to it ? The point is moot.SL.

I really hope TO stay together as a team and have another crack at it ( and yes, i'm well aware of the rumours of them returning to the French league). I believe IMG will promote a 14 team SL and I hope TO are willing to put another year's grind in the Championship to have another go.

Explains not being able to get on the beeb then?

t'interweb mate. Most matches are OK through the BBC sports app and via local radio. Just one or two for TO or Catalans are not available.

Also, i've got a big f### off satellite dish bolted to the end of the grange, so I can get BBC 5 live etc over free-2-air...which would be great if they ever had a match live on the BBC sites
