What does that mean for a TO home Champ semi-final? On the road too?
No idea at the moment. I hope it won't matter as I can't see the Japanese making the semi finals but stranger things have happened.

With a full strength team we might give Fev a game but we are a bit light in some areas at the min with injury and bans. Cant see us getting within 3 scores unfortunately.
Id imagine something around 32 -12.
Well the exception of Fev, TO and Newcastle every side has much for to play for.
Its going to be a thrilling last month of the season
I actually see Newcastle getting a win. TO are very under strength for this match. One win in 4 guarantees them 2nd but I wouldn't want to see them have to go Whitehaven last day of the season and have to win.

Why not?
It depends if Japan are still competing the world cup. The semi final matches won't be played in Toulouse but the Japanese team are using it as a base

It's going to depend on injuries to key players imo before the end of the season, particularly for Toulouse.
It will be interesting if Fév lose their playoff and TO win as I don't think TO will be able to play at "home"

depends on what team France take over?
Considering Toulouse , catalans and Fév all have french nationals, I would think it's going to be an Elite or U19 team that goes

Toulouse 34-10 - not as bad as some folk feared.
That was the sort of score I expected.to be honest. Pellisier had a reasonable match and Shorrocks lasted 60minites.
Barrowesque weather, other than the thunder storm mid game, as it got slippy afterwards. Any news of the Barrow lad that got stretchered off? It didn't look good. Glad the medical staff got some applause this week rather than the abuse they got last week.
Still no band.
However, the dancing girls are back after their holidays.

I thought the new full back Zac Santo looks a very interesting player just based on the highlights of Toulouse's recent games, hard to see from that why he's been playing in Elite 1 for years as he looks a real threat.
He is. Very quick. If he has Jake and Josh playing in front of him he does well. It was nice that the 1st home match there were some Limoux supporters who came along to watch to see how he got on.
Olly AB is fit already, although with Zac in the team he won't be brought back and risked playing until next season. A remarkable recovery in 6 months.

Getting close to the playoffs, but don't see any real surprises....
I think Barrow have a lot to play for so I expect a tough match in Albi.
TO are knackered as they've played a lot of games in the heat recently. They've also lost a couple of decent players too, Biscarro for the rest of season, maybe Jussaume too. Also missing Guy Armitage now due to a nasty, sneaky elbow to the back of the head at the end of the last game. If..a big IF, Jake can play, TO should win but I won't expect a big score line.

It's pretty hard to nip summat in the bud that's been going on years.
It has to be peer pressure. If the "good" fans stand up to the idiots it would be a start, call out the behaviour where you see it. Rather like calling out the cowards that are the bullies, once they don't have an acceptable platform to perform on, they will move on to something else.

Can't help feeling Fev fans are getting a raw deal here. I know quite a few people from Fev, both personally and in a work capacity and they are all very decent people.
Every club has it's idiots, I've seen them from every club over time.
Not every club, but I some clubs there are a vocal minority who think it's ok to verbally abuse other fans/players/staff as there is little in place to stop them.
Not just the fans, the Swinton players gave the duty Doctor a lot of really nasty abuse last Saturday, something I hope will be reported to the RFL, but I doubt anything will come from it. The players should at least be setting an example. And the RFL should be making an example of players/fans to send a message.

Think if there's one thing we've learned about Toulouse this season, it's that they're a very good team with something like their best 17 playing, but take two or three key players out and they tend to struggle. Wouldn't read too much into this latest result/performance as both halves were amongst the absentees, but from what I've seen of them three of yesterday's missing players (Ralph, Peyroux & Jussaume) have been three of their key players this year.
I mentioned a few days ago that Swinton always put in the effort in France, they weren't going to get smashed by 60. They have form. Missing Ralph and Shorrocks is a big problem as they've been playing well together and Shorrocks has been kicking well. Missing Dom and PJ also. They will be missing for a few more games and you can add to that list Biscarro. Just a good job Zac has joined as he has been excellent at FB. Looks like no proper halves or centres for a few games.
The road show rolls into Albi next week and it's not going to be too hot. Wet and warm I think.
Band now down to Zero.
Still no dancing girls.

FRIDAY 18th AUGUST
Sheffield Eagles v Featherstone Rovers Sheffield by 4SATURDAY 19th AUGUST
Toulouse Olympique v Swinton Lions Toulouse by 60SUNDAY 20th AUGUST
Bradford Bulls v Newcastle Thunder Bradford by 32
Keighley Cougars v Batley Bulldogs Batley by 18
London Broncos v Halifax Panthers Fax by 8
Widnes Vikings v York KO Knights York by 4Some interesting games this weekend with the friday game the pick. How do Fev react after the turmoil of the last couple of weeks against a Sheffield team that no doubt Mark Aston will have them up for it. Sheffield are more than capable of beating anyone at home. How do the 2 1885 cup finalists come through after last week and a really tough trip back down London for Fax and then the last game I found it really hard to pick a winner. Who knows which version of each team turns up.
It will be interesting to see how Swinton get on against a depleted TO side. Swinton have done well against TO in France previously, and they've beaten them at home this season, albeit as Sita was binned twice in the match.

How is full time defined?
Using Fev as an example, there are several players who don't have other employment, yet until recently they've not been training on a "full time" basis. Some are employed by the club foundation, undertaking work in the community. Meanwhile, there are several current SL players who run businesses on the side, especially things such as personal training.
Is it simply the number of hours per week they're contracted for? Something else?
For Toulouse, it's contract related. Although the 4 Elite players have only just recently signed contracts as they are no longer students. All contracts are CDD, Contrat à Durée Determinée, normally for 2 years, although I think OAB got a 4 year deal, even the staff are on CDD. The holy grail in France is having a CDI, Contrat à Durée Indéterminée. You can get a mortgage with that. The state pays something towards the young guys not on contracts but I think it's only as much as the minimum wage. Even TO don't train all the time, it's not good for them. Playing away games they only train the Tuesday and Thursday anyway.

Keighley went big on spend at the beginning of the season. Possibly only behind Fev and Toulouse.
Toulouse got most of the new players from the elites so no big spending, they don't actually have a big budget.
They currently still don't have the new president installed, or a main sponsor on the shirts. Nothing will now happen until after the summer holidays...which is so infuriatingly french! This should have been sorted out pre-season

I wonder if the French players that Long persuaded to join Fev from his time as the French team coach will hang around

Its difficult to get decent players in this time of the season, if you have to replace decent players. I think Fords in a no way situation here.
Absolutely, for the aspiring championship champions what do you do? Go all in hoping you win the final? Which players would want to sign for a championship club with 7 games to play and no confirmed SL place? And the clubs, who has that money as a bet?

BBC radio York for our commentary this evening. Not as hysterically partisan as normal, but still hysterically funny all the same. Trying to explain Yorksheeeer to my french mates is difficult.

Tbf, while I never like seeing a manager sacked, they are woeful and the board have got to do something quick or they’re down so the decision is understandable.
I know "the board"/owners want results, as it is always is finance driven, but there should be some sort of loyalty. It should work both ways. Appoint someone and stick with them even in the low times.
I noted Sylvain has just had is 10 yr anniversary with TO this last week. I wonder how successful they could have been If they sacked him in the middle of last year.

Yes I agree with that and your team is an obvious example. Halifax too don't really seem to have replaced Joe Keyes adequately since he's been out. Gilmore for Widnes was another big miss. Even Fev, for the two defeats we have suffered this season, Johnno Ford missed the first one and went off injured after 10 minutes in the second one.
Toulouse by contrast seem to have been very fortunate as they have only two recognised halves and I think they have missed only one game between them all season. that said Josh Ralph, who is the player that really makes them tick, went off injured in the Keighley game, but it doesn't sound as if it's serious.
TO have a very small squad compared to Fev, but they have been managing what they have very well. Ant Marion can deputise as a half, Josh will be missed, I mean, he's been awesome, but hopefully will be back for the playoffs. Zac has added some speed to the attack. TO have to play 5 of the bottom 7 so i would think they could still manage 2nd this season.

Not good is it? Hardly the best prep for the players, I hope it spurs them on but more likely it will have the opposite effect.
Not sure what happened. No one was out of pocket anyway. Delayed kick offs don't help players normally as they have a pre match schedule they follow. It may even have helped the players a bit as it was not as hot as predicted.

Japanese I was told, and only used for training. Just shows how far down the pecking order TO and RL really is.
Yes, Stade des Minimes for the Fév match. I've not seen them play there as my TO life started at Blagnac. The whole episode stinks to be honest. TO do train there but I'm shocked they think they can have a proper match at the ground.
