Ok fair enough I thought it was 16k, but even so 15k down to 11k is a massive drop off. I wouldn’t use the unpopular Super 8s as a comparison either.

    Again a few points.

15K was our peak average at the height of being the most successful club in the history of the sport.

Of course we are not matching that figure sitting in 11th with 2 wins from 10.

Our average isn’t 11k and will be well above that for 2022.

It’s not too bad in comparison to their usual support. Hull weren’t averaging 16k a few seasons ago and are also in a smaller city than Leeds with two SL teams.

Leeds played Toulouse at home in the Super 8’s in 2018 and got 10,100

What year did Leeds average 16,000?

Edit, I’ve had a look, I believe Leeds have only averaged above 15k in 2 seasons at the height of the golden period, these came when Leeds won the Grand Final in 07, 08, 09, 11, 12, 15. Even during this time most seasons we were under 15k and under 13k in some years.

Hull averaged between 11,114 and 14,014 in this time.

9.1k at Hull this evening. Not too bad considering the kick off time and lack of away support.

11k on a Friday night is worryingly low.

How is it that 9100 is not too bad, but 11,167 is worryingly low?

I thought Sunday was the preferred day for a lot of fans, surely 5:30pm is a reasonable time of day.  Both games were against French clubs with a similar number of away support.

Toulouse more attractive to Leeds fans than Huddersfield were. Attendance tonight 11,167.

We keep hearing from certain posters that Leeds’ low crowds are because they have so many Thursday games and they’ll go up on the preferred Friday, so for a club who were averaging 15k+ not long ago, 11k on a Friday night is worryingly low.

Wearing thin isn’t it. Leeds and Wigan’s haemorrhaging of fans is one of the most worrying aspects of the game, and neither club seem bothered about it.

I believe this worryingly low attendance was actually the best attendance of any game in the UK this weekend. Leeds are once again the best supported club in the country.

Oh the confused emojis start because your strawman fails, again.

Now its move the goalposts time. No I don't want him chosen against his will. That wasn't the point though. I would like a 36 year old Roby picked because he is playing well and is good enough. However not a 34 year old Ryan Hall who isn't. Obviously you knew that.

As I said when your trolling fails it's better to just give it up.

You are talking nonsense again, which 4 wingers would you like in the England training squad ahead of Hall and McGilvary

From my quick calculations, those 3 teams have lost about 4,000 fans between them since 2019, quite strange conisdering every other club has slightly increased or stayed more or less the same, is it a case of some glory hunters haven't been able to go so have just stopped bothering or is it more long term, hardcore fans who have gone AWOL?

    Have Salford and Wakefield?

  7. 7 minutes ago, Damien said:

Well no. It obviously means past his best. Which Hall, and McGilvary, obviously are.

Sometimes it's better to stop digging than trying to troll with strawman arguments that have no basis. You've now been told three times age isn't a factor. It's really odd to try and twist things and ignore what you are being told.

Again if itI was bothered about age then I wouldn't want Roby in the England squad. However I do. That kind of shows you are talking nonsense.

Do you want to force him to play against his will

Another compelling argument. Judging by plenty of posts and threads on this topic many seem to agree with me and not you.

I have already said his age has nothing to do with it. If people were influenced by his age then the same people wouldn't be championing Roby for hooker.

Describing him as past it, you are clearly referring to his age

  9. 8 hours ago, Damien said:

Age is nothing to do with it. He is no longer England's best winger and is not the best available option.

He has completely lost his pace and has the turning circle of a tank, a captured Russian tank being towed by a Ukrainian tractor at that.

The Southern hemisphere nations would have a field day with Hall and McGilvary on the wings.

I never said he’s England’s best winger, Makinson is, but Wane is right to include Hall in the England squad, he’s there on merit. He scored his 8th try of the season today, had already made over 1200 meters before playing today, is solid in defence and is as good as anyone under the high ball. People are writing him off simply because of his age.

Varsity 2022, May 4, University of Leeds RUFC  v  Leeds Beckett University, an 18,000 sell out at Headingley. Wonder how much beer they will sell?!

Leeds Varsity, 27 April to 4 May, across 25 sports, with 60 fixtures. The RL Varsity takes place on 29 April, prior to the Rhinos v Hull KR game.

This seems like a bit of a missed opportunity to me, couldn’t the rugby league varsity game not be a big standalone event? I’d guess the Union varsity tickets will only cost a few quid whereas to watch the League varsity game you’ll need to buy a far more expensive Super League ticket.

Huddersfield brought a reasonable following with them too, I doubt Hull kr will match them for numbers at our next home game. The fact we still got more for Toulouse highlights the Thursday night effect, I appreciate sky put a lot of money into the sport so Thursday night games are necessary, but Leeds have had more than their fair share of this season.

If Ryan Hall was 19 and scoring try’s and making metres like he is doing there’d be plenty crying out for him to be in the England squad, he’s still a top winger, just because he’s at the back end of his career shouldn’t stop him being selected, if he’s the best available option. Wane has him in the training squad and rightly so.

Where would you play Saints v Wigan though, if neutral venues could easily be booked with two weeks notice?

Leigh or Warrington would be far too boring and scream tin pot. Bolton is too big, Ewood Park or Turf Moor maybe?  A good thing about Elland Road is that it’s famous and many will never have been there before, so may be attracted to go there rather than another SL ground where they go for regular SL fixtures.

Leigh or Warrington is exactly where it should be held

I personally think the sport should be aiming for better than double headers for semi finals. Wigan v Saints in Leeds is just crazy.

I agree double header semi finals is poor, it’s to bring costs down as only 1 venue needs to be hired. If we can’t afford/it’s not economically viable to hire 2 venues, the first team out of the bag in the draw should play at home with a split gate as is the case in the quarter final.

According to his Wikipedia entry his father was a Scot from Glasgow, and players representing the country of their father's birth has long been accepted in soccer and evidently in RU too.

Along with representing the country of their mother’s birth or any of their grandparents birth, virtually all sports have similar international eligibility rules

I go againt the grain on this one.  I don't want Wane to pick Hastings even though I highly rate him as a player.

I have waited all my life to see Great Britain / England beat Australia in a series or a tournament final and I don't want that to finally happen by picking Australians to play for England.

I know that people will point to posts I have made about heritage players being good for the game and showcasing as much talent as we can in the World Cup and call me a hypocrite.  And yes, you are probably right... but Hastings is an Australian and as an English Rugby League fan, when it comes to internationals, they play against us, not for us.

Every country in every sport picks players who qualify using their heritage. If he qualifies and he’s the best available option get him in the squad, place of birth should not be a deciding factor, it’s simply do they qualify and are they good enough. Every country in the World Cup will have players who qualify on heritage. If Wane does go for this little Britain attitude and we have a poor World Cup I’ll be furious.
