  1. Sadly Scotland RL has always been on the back foot (Whatever happened to the youth development in Glasgow?)

Let both Scotland and Ireland develop along amateur lines, Wales needs 100%  support out of the 3 thats where we have a real chance.

Featherstone always had to sell their star players to survive. The years when we finished 2nd to Salford and then beat them to finish top in the late 70's i think attendances were just over 4000.MC was unlucky two years ago we beat Leigh in the first game of the season. Then Beaumont got the brass out and recruited some really good players to improve the team. And it came off for them they dominated the league and won promotion.MC had to have another crack at it with Leigh out of the way and only Toulouse as stand out challengers. We won the league with 12 points without really playing very well in most games.I repeat the players were good enough but when the pressure was on failed to perform as hoped. We blew it big time and overspent by about 500k on budget.Featherstone own the ground and some surrounding land. All profit from the bars and club house should go into the budget. They are a lifeline to so many in the local community and aslways offer the ground for amateur finals of all ages.Debts must be settled in full and whoever decides to take a punt in investing in the club probably wont see much return. But their knuckles will be white from the roller coaster ride.

    Nice sensible post

Elite 2 winners have been told they have to move up to'elite 1, they want to get 13 teams in elite 1 or they're just going to call it top 13 with 11 teams in there😁

Villefranche should be OK, remember them in Elite one back in the late naughties/early 2000,s when Jason Sands played for them.

In truth, it's going to be pretty dire at the bottom if 3/12 of the league aren't making the effort over 8 months.

One thing i would say Archie is that the Broncos team spirit is superb (Even in defeat) many of the players are enjoying their time in the spotlight of being in super league.

I can see the opposite for the other 2 clubs.

I'm afraid to say it seems this travel subject is only a small slice of the idiocy under consideration... I honestly despair for the sport at times, it reminds me of Alan Clarke's book on The Great War, "Lions Led By Donkeys". That's our game in a single phrase right there.

Doesn't really mater in the end as convinced there will be a new league run by the NRL who will 100% see the bigger picture

  6. Having met 2 of the people mentioned here my personal opinion.

David Argyle very hospitable nice guy who really believed in the project and was extremely unlucky to be hit by covid and a downturn in his business empire

Derek awesome self made person with one of the biggest passionate hearts in rugby league

Koucash never met him apart from emails when he pretended to be someone else strange a good friend of mine is in the racing business where he was well known however no-one really understood where the wealth came from.

Wasn't Argyl meant to be absolutely loaded? Surely in the Grand scheme of sports entertainment we were talking really rather modest numbers of millions in losses that covid caused?

In reality he would have spent second only to David Hughes estimated 22 million laid out.

I'd have thought that the RFL would have significantly improved their due diligence investigations after the ProBiz and Koukash situations.

Side issue: is it viable for you to carry insurance against defaulters?

Maybe but it was our risk not the clubs as we expected all the matches on SKY so would have been a good investment.

There were a few just a few of us including our Chairman Mr Parksider who said this Toronto farce would all end in tears especially with an owner who didn't/wouldn't pay his bills, along with the player's have a thought for all the small businesses/suppliers he also let down, I bet the man can't lie straight in bed.

I think Harry that if covid had not hit they would have pulled through.

Sad to see the players in this position though no-one wants to see that,we thank god have managed to claw back some money on the LED system that we shipped over by hiring it out over the last 3 seasons to a CFL club but are still over 150K down the swannie one just has to get on with it.

Never? I can find plenty of photos online of him wearing socks which I could post here if they allowed pictures bigger than a postage stamp.

4/5ths of the seats in the stands open weren't taken. It was really patchy in the South Stand and SE corner.

On the second part, for reasons of my own, I won't ever pay to watch a Broncos match again. I was there.

Come on Archie deep breath the club needs you.

Will be back from France (At the Dragons tonight) for next week be my guest message me

Those air ticket prices are from the UK or Europe. Air travel from Australia and New Zealand will be even more expensive. Probably double.

With those exorbitant process, only well to do NRL fans who follow the Sydney Roosters (Eastern Suburbs) and Manly (northern suburbs) will want to come back.

Certainly most fans of Penrith, Canterbury, Wests Tigers, North Queensland, Newcastle and the Dolphins will not be able to afford it.

    No brainer for next year

    Canberra Raiders

    New Zealand Warriors

    Melbourne Storm
