This is about future gambling revenue, not current media coverage or a few games in Vegas. I suspect the NRL will be hosting major US gambling companies in Vegas this weekend and saying - "look at this, we dumped an unknown sport here, got 45-50k people turn up with no national media coverage, we have nationwide Fox TV coverage lined up for our competition, these are the gambling options, are you interested in investing?" Their decision will decide how successful this all becomes.

You have hit the nail on the head.

One thing i would say though if RL commercial think having a match here would work forget it,the prices for the majority of RL fans are to expensive and our fan base is too narrow.

Flight for us 4 wife and 2 boys 3200

Hotel 3 nights 900 (No food)

Breakfast just now very modest 100

Lunch yesterday no wine just beers 300

    Tickets 800 (OK our choice)

Food over 3 days beers etc 1200

    Taxis 60

That's just basics before any shopping which is our choice

Total you are looking at around over 6K ridiculous Vegas is as expensive as Norway even more i would say.

On a happier note 3 pairs of Oakleys 50% off:)))))

I'd respectfully suggest that the CEO in question is an idiot. Feel free to name and shame.

Catalans Dragons bring a fully-resourced club to SuperLeague, delivering elite performance as a result of having the budget to do so from their commercial engine. We don't have 12 of those in total. I can think of at least 4 current SuperLeague clubs who don't come anywhere near that definition, so that CEO should be looking at those organisations first.

Of course we all know that the CEO probably runs one of those very same weak clubs, so they won't...

Pro Dragons clubs are very easy to find out they tend to be in the top half of the table bar London Broncos.

  3. Currently in the lounge at Heathrow Terminal 3 with the missis and 2 youngest boys waiting for the 5-40pm Virgin Atlantic flight to Las Vegas.

I would say out of 150 persons in here 80% are rugby league fans great effort:)

Making sure we all get our 35 squids worth i would say airport lounge will not to make any m money out of us:))))

  4. If this is correct then its a total disgrace if I was the club i would tell SL to ###### off it stinks of a total tin pot sport .

On the subject of teams flying in and out some clubs have rowed back on this for this season Wolves spent 3/4 nights in France and i know Leigh Leopards plan to do the same and also Hull KR no idea of others .

And Lézignan have beaten Pia and limoux as well as losing against Pia and limoux And lost in the second half against the Catalans. So it will be a good play off series.

Its going to be a cracking last few months to the season can't wait to be back next week after Vegas, will come up to Lezignan with Dave and Costo for a nice pre match 🙂

I assume what Paul's saying is the audience demographics mean that the in-game adverts don't hit the "right" type of people when seen through that channel.

My view though would be that it's incremental: We can sell energy drinks to the younger Sky demographic, and Ovaltine to the BBC viewers, if our sport is shown on both. 🤣

What I am saying is that sponsors reach a far better demographic on SKY + one has some global coverage .

YES I get it that the BBC audience is bigger its FTA so always will be in the UK however matches on BBC never have a consistent fixed viewership (Unless maybe an England appearance in a WC Semi-Final Final deciding match in a 3 test series v Australia or New Zealand) its a peak and huge drop off as viewers  are channel flicking whilst sitting in their arm chair most half asleep in the winter:) with SKY one pays for it and its a pretty much dedicated audience.

I would also add (And more so since covid) many global corporations make global decisions and that decision maker could be in the USA Australia Singapore Dubai etc thats why SKY is so important nowadays i would also add that BT Sport (Now TNT) was/is also a hard sell West Indian cricket want from Sky Sports to BT Sport and the interest went down the toilet.
