Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, there are massive communities of people with these nations' heritage all across the UK, but especially across the RL heartlands.

What a fantastic opportunity it would be to engage with these communities.

Same can also go for Poland, Bosnia, Kosovo etc.

In German football there are hundreds of "ethnic clubs" all representing various ethnicities all around the country, there's a few springing up in the UK too now, FC Romania, Sporting Khalsa etc, imagine having rugby league clubs representing different heritage/immigrant groups.

Sweden has Balkan football clubs in Malmö.

They're playing RL in South America, as well as the Latin Heat and other ex-pat setups. All at a very early stage, but everyone has to start somewhere.

The opening match of this year's Women's RWC will be between England & Brazil at Headingley, on the 9th of November.

Central America also. The Latin heat guys and the other ex-pats are real unsung heroes.

I have just come across a clip of 1990s ECW Wrestling on YouTube and Jake “the snake” Roberts was wearing an old Wigan away shirt.

Any more examples of RL Merchandise spotted in real life or on TV somewhere you wouldn’t expect it?

Would be interesting to get the backstory on how Jake “the snake” roberts ended wearing that.

On a similar theme, there’s another video on YouTube of wrestler Val Venus in a shoot interview, wearing a Leeds top.

And of course there’s the Hull KR poster (not quite merch) in the cafe in the classic Only fools and horses episode ‘To Hull and back’.

Seem to also recall a Jon Cusack film back I the 80/90’s where he’s wearing a Kangaroos jersey.

Haha!! I had forgotten about that poster in the cafe on only fools and horses.

  5. Which countries would you:-

    A. Like to see playing RL

    B. Are a perfect/natural fit for playing RL

I’m ruling out the obvious and easiest choice which would be the USA with  its incredible economic might, cultural influence, huge population and long history of producing some of the greatest athletes/sportsmen that ever played sports only because it’s a lazy choice and unfortunately highly unrealistic unless you have billions of dollars to invest and some celebrity pulling power like football(soccer).

My choice/choices would be Cuba and brazil.

Cuba has a decent sized population of over 11 million people and it also has an amazing sporting culture and history most notably with boxing and the Olympics. It’s also a country in which a small amount of investment has the potential to go far compared to a rich industrialized western country.

Brazil has incredible potential imo for RL as again it has an incredible sporting culture and history and is the region’s economic powerhouse with a huge population and although it’s a huge country in terms of landmass it has large populated cities which could be targeted with investment which again goes further than North America and Europe.

He could be the next Burrow, great step and will hurt tired or back tracking defences.

Hopefully Union won’t go after him, however he is probably too small for the game for ‘all shapes and sizes’, the lumbering forwards would target him as an easy hit.

Doesn’t matter if he’s too small or not or good enough  for union as they seem to sign and target league players just to f#ck with the game.

It´s a shame about Montpellier if true because as we´ve said before it is right on that southern belt of heartland teams and is a perfect bridge from Avignon to Toulouse . Surely Montpellier can support an Elite 1 team with 1000 fans if done right?

Having a league presence in Montpellier also allows the game to creep even further towards France’s 2nd city Marseille.

Just to say that any fans who might be staying in Cornwall this weekend can get their live RL fix with two back-to-back matches on Saturday 10th of July.

First, at 2:30pm there's the Betfred Women's Super League South game between the Cornish Rebels and Cardiff Demons. Then, at 5:00pm, the annual men's County clash between Cornwall v Devon kicks off.

Venue: Redruth RFC (TR15 1SY) - easy to get to from the A30.

Entry is free, and updates can be found on the Rebels' social media pages on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.

Hope to see some TRL regulars there!

Am I right in thinking that both wigan and St. Helens are linked with Cornwall and Devon?

You are making an imaginary point.

The facts demonstrate that he has signed a contract to play Japanese Rugby when the season finishes for his current club Southport.

First people jump on his back for signing with Japanese Rugby while he is due to play RL.

When that turns out to be a false accusation, he is now accused of doing something that will not happen.

If people don’t like him, that’s fine. I don’t have a problem with that. People will have their reasons and will find their reasons to be reason enough. But holding him negatively accountable for actions that have not and will not happen is frankly unfair and unjustifiable.

Do you know how much he’s getting paid at Southport tigers?

Hey, very simply, when he signed with Japanese Rugby, posters on this forum denigrated him for showing no allegiance to Southport Tigers.

As it turns out, that criticism was premature and undeserving, as he prepares to play his first game for them this weekend.

This is all that I am raising attention to and whether or not Japanese Rugby is in or out of season is neither here nor there to my point.

How much is Izzy getting paid  to turn out for Southport tigers?

You can bet your bottom dollar that had Japans top league been in season he wouldn’t have played a game for Southport tigers.

No doubt those recent posters snidely remarking about IF’s commitment to Southport Tigers will ignore news of his upcoming first game for them this weekend.

He’s only playing because the domestic league season in Japan has finished.

you can’t expect the slave to mammon to go without earning  any money until the new top league season starts.

A week or so ago the President of Carcassonne X111 Francis Camel was interviewed in the La Depech newspaper about the clubs future plans after their loss in the Champpionship Final to Lezignan. The Canaris may have lost on the field in 2021but off it show how things can be improved, There sponsordhip, marketing and presenatation top knotch, Camel a retired bank manager is still not satisfied though. Going forward has launched a new Business Club which he hopes to double the funds coming into the club. They do though have a fine stadium at Albert Domec which is shared with the USC rugby union club, This past year the club left their club house behind the railway station to a new office facility at the ground. There is talk that the athletics track will be removed at some stage to another location in the town and the old railway side stand to be refurbished.

The President’s interview included that the club have very high expectations going forward, He even raised the possiblity of playing in League 1 across the Channel. At the same time Camel said the Elite 1 had been a real succes this year – on the field. On the other hand he feels of it – Elite 1 clubs needs to attend to their structures - grounds, facitities, floodlights, marketing, presentation et al.

The school of rugby in Carcassonne U6-U16 has been run by the MJC set-up for years up to Cadets with parents and friends in charge. Now Camel wants to bring it all together under one roof with professional educators and coaches. A womens team is being reformed too, Hear too that Alan Walsh (of this parish) is leaving Lezignan to join up with the Canaris next term.

Elsewhere the existing link up with Elite 2 Villgailhenc and Federal Villeueuve-Minervois clubs is to be strengthened creating a Carcassonne region treize concept under one umbrella. Maybe just Francis Camel is using his Ligue 1 aspirations idea as a shot across the bows of the other clubs to get their standards up to scratch.

Great to here but alas too little too late as we are suing for peace with RU 😂😂

I have no idea what life is like on the ground there but the only reports we ever seem to see seem to show a place in almost permanent conflict.

It would appear that The native population feel no affiliation to the Indonesian government and flag and will never do so.

Makes you wonder if there’s any large deposits of minerals or oil&gas reserves in the western half of new guinea for the Indonesian government to persist in suppressing  and  ruling over the native population?
