With Eirias Park being unavailable due to the pitch being relaid, our last home game of the regular season will be played at Victoria Park, in Warrington, on Saturday 3rd September, KO at 14:30.

I expect that re-arranging this game has been a huge challenge to the club, and highlights the obstacles we face in North Wales when we can't secure a venue in our own area. I also expect the situation is further complicated by the likelihood of us finishing second or third and gaining "home" advantage in the playoffs.

You might have to ask the travellers to move first

  2. Any extra game outside of the Home and away format, could skew the league positions.  For example soeone could miss out on the play-offs by 2 points.  Someone could get relegated due to the results in the extra round.  Imagine for example Dewsbury get relegated but if they had won their game at the bash they would have escaped.  What would have happened had they played Workington instead of Batley.  Also Fev could yet end up third especialy if they lose against Widnes and Fax.  That would mean an extra game in the playoffs due to having played Leigh three times.

Anyone seen the attendance's for the 2 days ?

Yes, it was appaling.  Between 6 and 7k on the Saturday and between 4 and 5 on the Sunday.  At least thats what I think I read.  So probably at least 5k down on previous bashes.  Down to location and timing (Commonwealth games/ Womens Euro Final)  RFL as fixture planners are next to useless

Yes Demon that does put a different slant on it, but if a SL club cannot have more than 7 FTA's on the register, then why say they can't have more than 7 FTA's in any matchday squad of 21 they simply will not have any more to field, even taking a FTA player on loan has to be on that club's register for the duration of the loan period, I would have thought

If they bring one in on loan, they have to deregister one of the others.  Has been done before but can't remember who. Hull KR?

13 currently, but some will be quite easy decisions on departures. Inu, Hitchcox, Ioane and Hingano will be definite departures and Nakubuwai highly likely. The key retentions to make from the overseas players are Nene MacDonald, John Asiata, Edwin Ipape and Tom Amone all of which should be staying.

Interestingly, when looking through the operational rules regarding Non federation trained players, the wording for the SL rule of 7 seems to specifically apply to those named in a 21-man matchday squad and not the squad as a whole. Theoretically, you could carry additional NFT players providing 7 were named in any given 21-man squad.

Think you may need to read that again.  The beginning of the sentence "A Super League Club's Register..."

That's one of the things I'm hinting at.

However, didn't the RFL have a strategy where they have limited licences? That may be flawed thinking when linking them to clubs.

Yes, I think the number was 10.  More than 10 'met' the standards. Leigh were deemed not to be in the top 10

Fax by between 24-30 Im going for. We are looking pretty good at the moment and a good win will set us up for the game against Leigh next week. I didn't think I were going to go to the Leigh game because I still expect a hammering despite how we are playing but they have a tough scehdule so maybe they rest a couple of players or are looking a bit tired so we could make a game of it.

Seems they are resting a few against Barrow

Booked our trains 6 weeks ago, you should have had some faith D 😉

(Paid £80 return for two of us from Wigan. Yes, Leigh fans can use trains).

You are the expert and a frequent traveller, you must hardly ever be at home.  Let s see what transpires over the next 2 or 3 days.

for me and the lad its £90 return including underground pass.. with fuel prices as high as they are I doubt i would get there and back without spending that sort of money and thats without factoring in parking and possible transport from said parking to the ground.

Just priced it up about an hour ago.  Train from Warrington with tickets thru to Whte Hart Lane £203 for two.  I did get my costs mixed up a little however.  Train £203 plus match tickets.  Driving, fuel costs about £70,  parking - not cheap, and whats to say the guy hiring out his drive may have sold his space for more after you have booked it, or they have already closed off some of the roads as they seem to do on match days.

You would think things would be straightforward, but it always seems to be a case of how difficult/expensive can we make it to attend games at the stadium

  10. Train prices on 28th May, about a ton.  Looked at National Express and Megabus couldn't find one for 28th.  Parking round the ground none existent but I am sure someone around the stadium will let you park on their drive for £50.  So with tickets for two of us I am up to about £350 including the fuel to get there and back.  Hmmmmm not sure 'fan club' coaches that stop every 20 miles so someone can go to the toilet are an option I want to take.

Leigh confrim signing of Blake Ferguson

    https://leighrl.co.uk/wp/v2/blog/2022/04/29/leigh-centurions-sign-international-superstar-winger-blake-ferguson/

DB also confirmed in the article that this is going to be a sustained push for next year if we don't go up this year:

Mr Beaumont added: “Having achieved Super League with the club three times and been relegated on each occasion it’s imperative that when we do get promoted, whether it be this year or in future years, that we arrive in there with a team that is competing in the top eight of the table so we can then build this club to compete at the highest level.

“I have been very impressed with Adrian, Tony (Clubb) and the rest of the performance team and how well the lads have bought in and are growing as a team every week. It is, without doubt, the best group I have witnessed at the club and to get this over the line during our recruitment meeting for next year yesterday was great.

“I have said all along I will support heavily financially this year. There are no guarantees in sport, and I am committed that if we don’t achieve, we will still need the same team the year after. So, Chris has been given the green light yesterday, on my intentions and support irrespective of the outcome so we can move forward now and not when it’s too late to build.

    Your move Mr Campbell. 😂😂

  12. A posting on FB states a Fev fan was assaulted and was on life supprt. On the fax forum it is reported as a Fax fan as being badly assaulted along with a partial description of one of the guys involved.

Whichever side it is, yesterday was a black day for RL, with the attack coming on the back of Terry Newtons suicide.

    EDIT:

I guess no one knows or is just keeping quiet. Below is the article from the Warrington Guardian website:-

FYI - Taken from the Warrington Guardian this morning

A RUGBY fan has undergone emergency surgery after being attacked after the Halifax verses Featherstone clash.

The 32-year-old man, who is a Halifax rugby supporter, was returning to his coach at the car park on Dallam Lane, when he was attacked at around 8.15pm, yesterday, Sunday.

He suffered a serious head injury and is being treated at Walton Hospital.

Police say the car park was extremely busy with many fans returning to coaches.

  13. Now they are concentrating on expansion, it would be far easier if it was viewed by 10 times those figures which it would be on terrestrial TV. But then they wouldn't get the millions would they, they would probably get better sponsors though. If memory serves the CC games on the BBC were regularly viewed by 4 million or so. They need to get SKY to sell more coverage to the beeb at a sensible price.

  14. I think its a badly worded press release that needed to have an "if" in there. It doesn't actually make sense for the RFL to make promises at this stage and I don't believe they have.

But we're absolutely being over scrutinised in certain circles. It's a ticket offer and a good idea at that.

    You are Richard Lewis...........

No where for the 'if' to go. If your Chairman and money man wants to stuff it down our throats with his amazing business award winning financial turnaround from 2008 to 2009, and clearly deliberately worded statement on the official website, then he has to expect some back from jealous, green eyed, but ultimately people who can see the RFL for what they are.

  15. News Ltd has buggered the game in Australia with Gallop etc ruining the show and the farce of News Ltd at Melbourne. Meanwhile Sky is making a joke of the game in the UK. The RFL is a a Sky Puppet and what Sky wants they get. The RFL have no proper strategy that is fair for all clubs whether SL or Championship. The Championship next year will see Widnes have a massive advantage and likely win everything as they prepare for SL. Whilst the rest like Fev, Barrow, Leigh etc just play a set of friendlies.

Well I think you might be wrong re:Widnes next season. If they are going to get (or have already) the nod, why would they bother wasting money they don't need to spend on a decent squad for next year. They won't be able to pay the new players they have lined up for SL on a Salary cap of 300k. So I predict Widnes will go with youth and may not even make the play offs, but by then who in the championship will care.

  16. Think they'll have Championship licensing so the clubs will have a season to recover without the fear of relegation, but they'd then need to go all out for 2013 to have the chance to apply for 2015

Do not agree with that one at all. No season to recover, and please Mr Lewis and Wood 'no parachute payment'

  17. Imagine if you were Leigh who would you like to be playing in the Play Off's to maximise your crowd potential, it wouldn't be the Eagles, it would be Widnes. Leigh could very well engineer this situation by finishing forth....What would they have to do to make this happen? I will leave that up to you to work out.......

Well they could easily have just given up and thought that at 22-10 down but they didn't so I'll leave that up to you to figure out why they didn't

No surprise really that Salford Council approved planning permission for their own development. Wonder how the Council Tax payers will feel about paying for a Stadium out at Barton. Steelworks will confirm this is not lies like last time
