  1. So Bob Hunter is confident of presenting the new owner to the RFL/SL by next Tuesday. Yet in the same breath he talks about the American ownership group and says there is still a UK unterest, who are a little slower in gettng things together. Name me a businessman who would 'buy' a club AND pay at least four months of debts off. The debt will be a fairly substantial number also. As far as i see it is just another Toronto special (words and no action - ask the Skolars). Noticed too that they may ask for an extension.
  2. So all those in favour of giving them dispensation AND protection from relegation AND a bye to the GF say aye. They are spending up to the cap without the TV money so there is no need for that to be brought up in any argument. They don't live in Toronto so a dispensation ala the London weighting does not apply. Even if Canadian players were not classed as overseas players, there aren't any of SL quality at the moment. So now a question for the RFL ........ how the f*** did you ever think this would work. Catalans have been in the league for how long? Is French RL any better off ..... nope its still ######.
  3. To be fair I am not sure you can use the cost of living as a reason ala London. After all they live in the North West of England for 9 months of the year. Your point on salary cap dispensation they can't access does however cary some weight, but I would imagine that would be no more than 100K, 2 or 3 players maybe. Do they have more players out on loan other than Greg Worthington? Are they out on loan due to the shockingly managed salary cap. They cannot convince me they were unaware of these possible issues 3 or 4 months ago, yet they only decide to start shouting now. How has it taken them 4 months to sort out Chase Stanleys isues, because thats how long they wold have known it needed to be sorted
  4. All I can say is you didn't merge them very well as my most recent post (last night) seems to have disappeared. Basically stated that there was an update appeared on Play Store last night which seems to have fixed my app which now opens and doesn't crash. It does state that the update was to fix an issue for some Android 10 users following the previous update at the end of January.
  5. My app is doing the same. Quick flash of a white screen then the message about the app keeps stopping. It was working fine up until Friday. I did notice that there was an app update on the 31st Jan(Friday). It looks like that update has fecked the Our League app up on some phones. Mine is a OnePplus 7. Have tweeted the RFL and sent the system logs through the app feedback option. They just seem to contain the word 'Crash'
  6. ....but he is. No one is going to beat the tw'@pack with all the advantages they have (earned) in the play off series. The recent permanent signings are signed for 2020 also. If Leigh managed to win through in the play offs to the final they could possibly have had to go to Toulouse and also Toronto twice, (maybe Toulouse twice) thats not including Toronto in their last game of the regular season. With a mainly part time squad I would say it wuld be a miracle if Leigh got promoted. Maybe Leigh should finish 4th then at least they get one home play off game, as 2nd is unlikely
  7. If DB hadn't 'forced' players to find other clubs, they (the players) would be alot worse off than they are now and there would be no club. Can't comment on Larroyer, would love to comment on Evans but won't. No administration, no 12 point penalty ..... anyone like to comment on Widnes instead. The lack of fact based posts on here is laughable,.... still it has done wonders for the makers of blood pressure medication. ?
  8. Reminder, they are only 'in talks'. So does that mean they are in talks....or does it mean they have sent out a load of speculative letters to PE firms. I haven't seen any names mentioned of who they are in talks with.
  9. ??????????????????????????????????????????????? So very predictable Dont you want to join the 'throng' in your Leigh slagathon about clubs actually signing there own (and in Leighs case past players who apparently were badly treated). Actually though you probably have but I must have scrolled past your posts
  10. The haters will always hate. So players returning to the place they were so badly treated?? Odd that isn't it especially as the 'villain' is still the owner. Yes there were 'issues' with 2 players (one only played 4 games in 2 and a half years). Others (9 or 10) were allowed to leave prior to the transfer deadline and thus found other clubs and were no worse off. The couple of hundred k wiped off the remaining wage bill for the year meant Leigh would still exist the following season AND did not need to go into administration, unlike Widnes whose troubles I suspect will commence again at the end of this season. Seeing as some views on here are not based around actual facts allow me some guesswork of my own regarding the clubs situation at the end of 2018. Faced with what was about to arise in the coming months I am pretty certain that Administration woud have been advised. Whether this was advised is purely speculation and as brutal as some of the facts were. Someone did what they needed to do to ensure the people of Leigh had a club to support. The 2019 aim was initially to avoid relegation but Duffy managed to pull together a squad with a bit of quality. They have not done too bad considering the wage bill is now over a million less than 2018 Funny how the snowflakes only appear when Leigh have a bit of success. Sorry, no, very very predictable
  11. I see the same old people still have there Leigh-dar turned on.
  12. TWP seem very good with words and shout them very loudly so that we all hear. Sadly, and not for the first time, the actions in the background bear no resemblance to the words
  13. Bradford and Fax, the whole 17. Featherstone to a lesser extent.
  14. Toronto have never given thousands of free tickets pmsl. See ticketmaster and special codes for upto 4 free tickets per person
  15. A statement from Andy Mazey of Swinton Lions https://swintonlionsrlfc.co.uk/news/chairmans-statement/
  16. I am sure DB could have put Leigh into administration and was possibly advised to, but he managed to off load around 9 very large contracts as players were allowed to seek alternative clubs just prior to the deadline and agreed deals with the majority that remained until the end of the season. It wasn't pleasant and did look ugly but in hindsight it did save the club whether people agreed with the way it was done or not. It also avoided any local suppliers getting screwed as far as I know and started 2019 as a part time club, ready to climb again. TBH there isn't much point in spending excessive amounts of cash this year. Just let Toronto get on with it.
  17. So they have just signed 2 Leeds players (Walters and Ormondroyd) and are now also after Brierley. I seem to remember a few years ago, they signed 4 Leeds players on one year contracts who then returned to Leeds but still used their Dual Reg arrangement with Leeds. Was that a way of just using more than the allowed number of DR/loan players. For a club that has lost over half a million quid in fundng, they aren't half managing to splash some cash.
  18. Thats quite true, hopefully they don't all think like you . Incidentally some have paid he whole annual fee instead of monthly
  19. A recent update was that the LISA 'recruitment drive' netted 130 new members in just a few days which equated to around 12k for the year, so just 3k short of the suggested amount as the club stated they would not need it all at once. So I would say this looks like it has been a qualified success regardless of what you think of the method.
  20. British Rugby League 2030 Leeds, Wigan, Catalans, Toulouse, Toronto, Montreal, Jacksonville, New York, Barcelona, London All other clubs have left the RFL and now come under the auspices of BARLA. Me, I stopped watching RL in 2025 when half of SL were not British
  21. The Championship is fast becoming a Yorkshire League....next season you have Halifax, Featherstone, Batley, Dewsbury, Sheffield, Hunslet and York plus 1 each from Cumbria, Cheshire, Lancs and France
  22. A posting on FB states a Fev fan was assaulted and was on life supprt. On the fax forum it is reported as a Fax fan as being badly assaulted along with a partial description of one of the guys involved. Whichever side it is, yesterday was a black day for RL, with the attack coming on the back of Terry Newtons suicide. EDIT: I guess no one knows or is just keeping quiet. Below is the article from the Warrington Guardian website:- FYI - Taken from the Warrington Guardian this morning
  23. Now they are concentrating on expansion, it would be far easier if it was viewed by 10 times those figures which it would be on terrestrial TV. But then they wouldn't get the millions would they, they would probably get better sponsors though. If memory serves the CC games on the BBC were regularly viewed by 4 million or so. They need to get SKY to sell more coverage to the beeb at a sensible price.
  24. You are Richard Lewis........... No where for the 'if' to go. If your Chairman and money man wants to stuff it down our throats with his amazing business award winning financial turnaround from 2008 to 2009, and clearly deliberately worded statement on the official website, then he has to expect some back from jealous, green eyed, but ultimately people who can see the RFL for what they are.
