I remember this one!
From a Donny point of view too many to mention.
However I remember a game at Hull KR when we won 30 nil. Straight after the game the Dons fans were surrounded by stewards for our protection. We were spat at, verbally abused and pelted with stuff. A lot of our younger fans in tears. It's taken a lot of years to forgive them. So yeah. My worst game ever.
I like to think us Rugby League fans are a bit different to Soccer fans...how to thses get into the game and why ?

Yeah multi-cultural round and all, 8000 unsold tickets, how about giving some freebies to some different cultural associations around the area to give them a first taste of live Rugby League maybe.
Do you not think we have set exceptions to high for the crowds as Parra's first 3 games last year was under 18,000 ?

That is some pretty poor reading for Newcastle last year. For a one team RL coty like that, I feel like the club is failing with anything under 35k members.
Lets kick the NRL while its having a boom time...and I can tell you after the Super League ###### the NRL has been doing very well since 2002 to present and long may it continue unlike the newer yet dead Super Rugby.

Did Sky say they’d be showing every NRL game?
The lady over the phone did but then I bet she didn't have a clue about what I was taking about.

I also went into a Wigan Rugby League bar in Tenerife in 1993 not far from the whole Las Americas strip but went looking for it again in 1996 and couldn't find it.

You had me excited there thinking there was another country I wasn't aware of, then I realised you meant Norway
Always thought the Norwegians would of been perfect for both codes of Rugby esp League as it could be a perfect calender sport in summer.

What, like having every game available live on* Sky?
*I know later in the season the non feature games will likely be the red button rather than the main Sky channels, but still it’s far more than we’ve ever had before
Lat week looked forward to the Penrith v Parra game and it wasn't on Sky just the Dolphins etc but I was sold the deal that every Super League and NRL deal was on Sky when the lass was wrong...also no Storm or Manly game last weekend.

Yes quite but I noticed the same trend the previous weeks, but that does not alter the viewing figs Sky are receiving and more importantly extra subscribers.
Got rid of Sky Sports last week within my months trial and just paying monthly for the NRL app....I will miss the easter derbies for Super League but will have a cunning plan to get another months trial come middle September.

I really want Tyson do to that in the first 2/3 rounds after that it's all on fitness from the upstart youth.
I just don't want it to be like Evander Holyfield lose in the 1st round against MMA Victor Belfront first Boxing match.

Who would of thought 30/40 years ago that only one Heavyweight from the USA would be in the top 10 rankings with rest made up of 3 British and the other 6 coming from Ukraine, New Zealand, Cuba, Germany, Croatia, China.
It's breath fresh air not having the dominance of the USA of the past BUT now can we ended the circus of Jake Paul, KSI and Tommy Fury pease.

If I came into the kind of money Musk, Bezo, Blackrock etc I would buy every Rugby League, Rugby Union be it amateur, pro, semi pro, touch, tag etc start out all over again with the permission of Peter V'Landys.

I haven't got a Sky Glass TV.
I found this though:
Glass televisions do not have a general casting or mirroring function: for that you'd need to attach a device over HDMI such as a Chromecast, Firestick, Roku or Apple TV.
Not sure if that's relevant to your statement above.
I bought a Roku box, v small, and use that when I occasionally watch on my large screen tv. I don't find the quality of the picture quiite as good as on my other appliances. They now do a 4K & HDR Roku box which I suppose gives a better quality picture. it's a one off payment (£39.99). They do a cheaper box too (£29.99).
Cheers for that...ended up watching the Parra game on YouTube with quality being 80% fine...I know there is TNT but wish Sky had a both codes Rugby channel...even with the other Football codes aside from Soccer.

Yes definitely, to much dismay from some on here that it would be even possible to like two different codes of football. Then again, some people can’t even understand how one person can like two different league’s of the same sport.
I tink it's good and healthy to follow more then one code...mate I live in the North East and you find most Soccer fans only will only follow be it Newcastle, Sunderland, England or even Man Utd so it's great when you meet someone who is Rugby League, AFL, GAA and even NFL Rugby Union and Cricket but thats tends to be people who play for a club....still waiting to meet a CFL fan.

I mentioned these figures on the other thread. There is no mistaking how good the attendances are, free tickets or not. The stadiums were buzzing and GWS and Suns were full of people wearing the apparel. A free ticket is never a free ticket.
I don’t think the NRL will be resting on any laurels though. PVL is up for the fight and he has always made it very clear of the importance in ensuring the game is flourishing in Sydney and Brisbane first and foremost.
Those apparel figures from @Damien are an amazing demonstration of growth. There is no doubt, the NRL and RL is in the strongest position it ever has been. It feels like SL has finally arrived after almost 30 years of waiting. It’s been nowhere near as long but I can’t wait for the Sharks development to be finished so crowds can get back above 15k again. A great win in Rd 1 will help.
Do you follow both codes ?

Yes, that Parra crowd was great. Shame is, I think they could have got more. Again the NRL competitors in the AFL have had a very successful round so far, with a near capacity 21,235 watching GWS at Homebush run out winners against the Premiers. They will be ecstatic with that.
I actually feel like the NRL are rising to the challenge of the AFL for a matchday experience. 2023 was a phenomenal and unprecedented season for NRL crowds. What I did particularly notice with the GWS game was the number of groups of 3 - 8 young attractive ladies all sitting together dressed in apparel watching GWS. They have chosen to attend an AFL game rather than a Saturday night out on the town which is pretty impressive for GWS. I’ve always thought many of the Sydney NRL clubs could lift their game in becoming an attractive host for a ladies night out.
Parramatta crowd was brilliant when you consider last year the first 3 games at Commbank was between 16,000-17,000 plus and one of them was against Penrith (Thursday night game didn't help).

Thanks for that also I got a Sky Glass Tv so wonder if the Apple or Google app works you can watch the games on the tv.

29,171 at CommBank Stadium for Eels V Dogs was impressive.
Titans v Dragons was very unimpressive hosting just 14,537 for their opening match of the season. That result will be further demoralising for the Titans and NRL when the Gold Coast Suns on the same day impressed a 22,086 sellout crowd with a big win locally.
I posted on the Australian section but was looking forward to watch the Eels v Dogs game on Sky and they didn't have it on
Regarding the Suns game how many Richmond fans were in the crowd....neverless great for NRL Western Sydney but shocker for Titans not good in the PR battle.

I was looking forward to watching the Parramatta Eels v Bulldogs game on Sky Sports today and noticed it wasn't on...gutted as I though Sky Sport will be showing most NRL games as well the Super League looks like I cancel the Sports and just get the NRL App but wondering can you get past games from the season ?
