  1. Agree , but if demand is high and more than one club interested then a fee would probably be the deciding factor .
  2. True , but I don't think they will be made quota exempt as Salford haven't gone into administration . I was using non quota players as an example , as most teams now have their full compliment of overseas players. I think it will come down to a separate fee in most cases if there are 2 or more clubs interested in a player . It's the only way you can decide really and the new financial team put in place at Salford (plus Salford themselves) will want to get as much money out of any player transfers as they can.
  3. I guess it would depend on demand for players . There are some good non quota players at Salford , and it could come down to a separate fee (on top of wages) as to who gets individual players , something that the financial team put in place will welcome .
  4. They would also dramatically improve their utilisation score if they moved to a smaller ground . It could end up being the difference between Cat A or Cat B , or even SL or Championship .
  5. Jeremiah Simbiken signed by Cas . This completes our quota spots for 2025.

  7. No , not much outside of football , although I guess that would depend on what was classed as 2nd tier sport , where sports don't specifically have a league structure . For example you can look at sports like American Football . NFL is clearly the top tier , but the College Football on a Saturday has excellent live TV coverage and shows more live games than NFL on a weekly basis . Cricket would be another example , but would depend on what you would class as top tier and second tier within the county structure . There are first class games , List A games and T20 (plus The Hundred) , all with excellent live TV coverage . There are different tiers within most sports , and some of the second tiers in these sports have some excellent TV coverage . That said , I do take your point , and within a league structure where there is a clear top division and divisions below , similar to RL , then football would be the only one that would fall into the category of proper second tier coverage.
  8. Championship Football is second tier sport and has more live games now than Premier League
  9. Not so sure about Toulouse https://www.loverugbyleague.com/post/fragile-championship-club-facing-fresh-financial-issues-as-funding-cuts-possible#:~:text=Championship heavyweights Toulouse Olympique are, from the city being cut.
  10. Or alternatively I see the Salford Reds a beggin' I hear that they can't pay their way Don't go out tonight , save your money , keep it tight There's a handout on the way
  11. Advance by RFL approved . More details below "Further to the formal request received from Salford Red Devils for an advance against their distribution entitlement, the Rugby League Commercial Board have advised the club of their support of the request. This has been granted on the condition of central involvement in and scrutiny of a more sustainable long-term trading position for Salford Red Devils. It is the responsibility of Rugby League Commercial, and not the Super League clubs, to determine the basis of distribution entitlements."
  12. They would probably say 'Stop spending so much time on RL Forums and get on with your work'
  13. Yes , it is different as the odds are worked out to a certain percentage . Taking one team out will change all of that , especially if the team to be taken out of the betting are one of the favourites for the Comp , if you see what I mean . It's not as much of a problem if it's positive news ie a takeover as the chances are that team's price is only going to shorten if the takeover is successful , and so you can just suspend their price if necessary, however if it is negative news then that will affect the rest of the market (odds) . For example , we have Wigan at 6/4 to win GF (William Hill , other bookies are available) , which represents a 40% chance . If they were to have some kind of potential points deduction that could take them out of the play-offs , then it wouldn't be as simple as suspending their price , as you would have to take the 40% and re-distribute it proprtionally to the other teams prices and form a new book (set of prices) .
  14. To be fair that's down to team news on the day . In a semi professional league , players may be unavailable due to work commitments and this can sometimes change on the day of the game . Bookmakers will want to wait until starting 13/17 are announced whenever possible.
