We have next to no tactics. Take Sheffield at home. We know Rob Worrincy is dodgy under the high ball, in the first half we put a high kick up in his area, FB went for it, dropped it, bounced through Rob's legs and Knowles scores. Did we try to kick to him again? No. Sunday 2nd half camped on Swinton's line, didn't try a kick to the corner, Speakman did one grubber into the in goal and forced drop out. Was that the first of our season? 18-4 up, can't score, get a penalty in front of the posts, we go for the try against 12 men and fail again to score. Or kick the goal 20-4 get the ball back against 12 men. Putting FB Joe Martin at scrum half - is that the first time he's ever played scrum half? Thought he did as well as you could expect for someone playing out of position in such a key role.

We telegraph who's taking the hit up. We never have two forwards running together. We have one passing move of the FB taking cut out pass behind the centre.

6th tackle near the opponent's line we seem to have no organisation or idea of what to do.

All the other teams have adapted better to the lack of scrums. I'm sorry to say watching the Rams is like watching a car crash in slow motion and our style of rugby is ineffective and boring and LG seems unable to turn it round. 2019 he had to put a squad together and credit to him for finishing 3rd bottom. 2020 started well, but this is his team now and tbh we are now the playing like the worst team in the Championship and we haven't the worst squad.

Batley have shown what can be done when you change coach, I doubt MS will sack him, but if we get scrums back next season is that going to make that much difference?

    Cracking post WR......

My choice, assuming all players are fit:

    1 Fleming

    2 Gabriel

    3 Ryder

    4 Oakes

    5 Carr/Dixon

    6 Martin

    7 Speakman

    8 Magrin

    9 Day

    10 Garratt

    11 Knowles

    12 Walton

    13 Sykes

    14 Butterworth

    15 Smith

    16 Esslemont

    17 Hall

I cannot decide which of the two for left wing.
I’d like to see Sykes at LF as I am sure he has all the attributes for that position.
Mar(tin could enjoy life as a no. 6 and it’s not an odd position for him and with Speakman as his partner, I reckon we’d have a lively partnership.
I would want Hall to prove that he has the mindset to ensure his fitness is sustained before selecting him as first choice prop.
For me, Annakin had been a big disappointment. I have yet to notice any meaningful move with the ball and were  he to improve, I’d look to have his as a candidate for the no. 13 shirt.

Only two weeks away so assuming all players won’t be fit.  As such I’m going for League Converts team.  Looks interesting ….

I realise that, and a 22 game season was bad enough, but when there are even further reductions to an already truncated season, it becomes a farce.

When you have a full time team that is effectively playing once a fortnight against part time teams that have been squeezing 3 games a week in to fulfill fixtures, it just doesn't sit right with me.

Yes BSJ, the club's voted for it preseason, and I can understand the probable reasons for doing it.

However, the club's also voted to reduce the funding for the club's outside SL once the new TV deal kicks in. Just because clubs vote for something, it doesn't make it right!

Having seen Toulouse up close I don’t think playing every week would have made any difference.  They are class.  Pure and simple.  Considering all the travelling with the associated nonsense that must involve these days  and the fact that nearly all their games are away I say good luck to em.

Don’t know what sort of team we’ll have for Thursday night, but to be honest I can’t see anything other than a defeat, hope I’m wrong of course. Seen Batley a couple of times this season and they play some nice rugby. Too good halfbacks playing behind a good pack.

    Rams 14 Batley 22

    Rams 12. Batley 32

Full expect a defeat, they've a big pack, creative halfback and capable of scoring points, we have no creativity and the amount of points scored is testament to that fact, about time a breath of fresh air blew into the halfbacks Newcastle 30 Rams 16, attendance at lest 4 MOM anyone who stands out 🤔😒

Gotta agree Coolie.   I’ll go rams 12- Newcastle 28

Well. Highlights in and “that” pass was a mile forward.   The last minute penalty decision looks a shocker too.  From what I can see the Thug just picks a fight with Finny and ended up with a penalty.  Was initially happy with a draw on the balance of play but it sticks in the craw now.

Just to add to our woes, the Batley game on July 15th is the latest date that the RFL will agree to, depriving us of a much bigger gate, and hence income, than if it could have been played a few days later.

Morons.  Little else to add except that it comes as no surprise at all.
We might as well have stuck with the original date 😀😖

One thing that confused me yesterday was why we didn't kick more at Worrincy given his weakness under the high ball. One kick in his area got a try and then we never did it again.

Agree 100%.    Poor thinking really.  Did we kick to him once ?

  9. Great effort from the lads and cracking defence throughout but a draw almost certainly a fair result.  Just disappointing that it happened so late on and by a penalty.  Still lack ideas on attack but can’t fault the effort.
They are a one man team from what I can see and take their scrum half out of their team and pop him in ours and we’d have walked it.

Another must win match coming up on Sunday.
I noticed that the Sheffield team against Toulouse lacked a few of the usual names, saving them to play against us perhaps?

    Dewsbury  24-20 Sheffield

    FTS: Gabriel

    MoM: Annakin!

    Att: 464

    Rams 12 - Ex Rams 16

    FTS: Rob Worrincy !!!!!

    att: 456

Well who knows what team we will have for Sunday. Still feel confident we can win. Anyone know a pub near the ground worth a visit?

No Garrett doesn’t help. How Kind of Toulouse. You’d have thought they’d lost😩

This was from earlier today. Wimbledon are having a 'test' event for the semis and final and Andrew Lloyd Webber was going to be given 'test' status so his new production could run at capacity yet you're limited to 800 for one of your biggest pay days of the season? It's a farce

Spot on drifter.  As I posted earlier the clever people running the country appear to have it in for sport.   Barely anyone in the grounds.  Hundreds rammed into pubs and other venues watching inside.    Same at Headingley for the cricket.

We're in Kirklees totally different to Wakefield met🤔

Too bloody right.   Pity we didn’t build the ground half a mile further down owl lane.  Have we ever done well out of Kirklees I wonder.

I'd have thought Paul Mennell (I don't know if the spelling is right) would have worked with a few of the lads on that been an ex half and all.

    So would I 😀

If, as looks likely, this is going to be a sellout with the restricted capacity, why is it not being shown on OurLeague?

Don’t t get me started again.   Indoor, yes indoor cinemas are limited to 50% capacity.  Outdoor, yep-outdoor sports are limited to 25%.  I thought we were following the science?  Clearly not.   As ever we are making it up as we go along.

From many a mile away I listened to HWD Hospital commentary (interspersed with a fair bit of England football stuff, which held no interest for me - I could have chosen other broadcasters to hear that, had I needed it) and could “see” how well Toulouse were playing. TO’s ability to sweep the ball across the field and have someone there to catch a pass, or players backing up a teammate was there for all to see (I have seen the highlights); I just wish we backed up too instead of giving encouragement by watching the lone runner - that’s our job, to give encouragement.

look you’ve set me off now. Backing up and offloading aren’t our thing.  Haven’t been for a long time.

  17. Thought everyone put in a decent performance, but really liked the look of Lewis Carr.  Great potential there I think.
Nice to see that last try coming through us keeping the ball alive….maybe we could do a bit more of that😉
Agree 100% with the comments about  Toulouse.  A massive unit that play rugby how I like to see it played.  Always a pleasure to watch and hopefully they will go all the way this year.

I think they’ll put 50 past us come rain or shine.  Cracking team from what I’ve seen.

Well Batley  managed to get over 900 for there game.Toulouse are fantastic team who play it the right way.So if Dewsbury get less than 500 i think it would be a total disgrace. Then mark should be knocking on Kevins door and asking "what are we doing wrong".Forget dam football ,record it like i will.I am demanding a close game!

I do t know for sure as I have no interest in the Doggies, but maybe that day wasn’t the warmest day of the year, when England were playing their first game of the Euros and against a team with absolutely no away support?   Always lucky Dewsbury 😖

I’d be amazed if we get more than 500 tomorrow.
