Wigan’s latest signing Brad Singleton is “ready to give his all” for the Club.

The experienced prop-forward was revealed on Thursday morning to have signed an immediate three-year deal with the Cherry and Whites.

Reacting to the deal, the 27-year-old, said: “I’m buzzing to be here.”

Singleton begun the 2020 season as a Toronto Wolfpack player. However, after their retraction from the Betfred Super League during lockdown, it was made clear that the Cumbrian was to look for a new club.

“Unfortunately for me and many of the Toronto players and staff, things didn’t go as planned.

“There was a case where I needed to look for another club, and with Wigan interested, I was ready to sign.”

Of course, with two Grand Final wins to his name and more than 180 appearances for Leeds Rhinos under his belt, Wigan weren’t the only club interested in his signature.

On choosing the Warriors, he said: “There was a couple of others (interested), but for me being around Super League for so long, I’ve always envied how this camp (Wigan) played rugby.

“I’m from a Wigan-mad town in Barrow-in-Furness and you always got the sense that the badge weighed a bit more with responsibility. I hope I can do that justice.”

2020 will certainly have been a year of frustration for the Irish international, having missed out on the majority of the season.

On getting back in action, he said: “I’m 27, props can play a lot longer and I’m just champing at the bit. I’m ready to give my all for this Club.”

With a number of young, talented forwards coming through the Wigan ranks, there will certainly be no shortage of competition for places with Singleton added to the mix.

Speaking about his role within the squad, he explained: “My main aim is to just complement this group and earn the respect of the lads.

“There’s a good crop coming through, a young, hungry pack and if there’s any way I can compliment that, it will be great.”

One of the greatest changes to the game since Singleton last competed in a Betfred Super League fixture is the ‘six-again’ rule.

On adjusting to the rule change, the 6ft 2 forward, said: “I think you have to enjoy the game. I like to be a bit aggressive and that’s why I thought Wigan would be best for me.”

“You’ve just got to be fit. You’ve got to be ready for whatever happens next.”
