Furner relieved as Rhinos hang on

Leeds coach David Furner joked of his relief after his side almost threw away a 28-point lead in their victory over Hull KR.

After 46 minutes, the Rhinos had a commanding led but Weller Hauraki’s try with two minutes to go brought the Robins back to within four points.

“I wish I didn’t come out for the second half,” Furner joked afterwards.

“It was the third game of Easter, and we had a very good, controlled first half.

“There were a couple of momentum swingers. We had chances for certain tries. Under fatigue, you have to keep your line intact. We didn’t and we’ll learn from it.

“We’ve got two wins from three over Easter in the end.”
