Wakefield Trinity Wildcats centre Ashley Gibson has revealed that he expects to be out of action for as long as four months following an injury suffered last Friday against Widnes.
Gibson suffered a dislocated shoulder and a bicep injury after being tackled by Widnes winger Patrick Ah Van – an incident which resulted in the Vikings star copping a five-match ban from the RFL’s disciplinary panel.
However, Gibson will be out for much longer than that, after revealing the grim news on social media that he requires surgery on the injury, and could potentially miss almost the rest of the season.
He tweeted on Wednesday:
Just seen the specialist. Done a lot of damage in the shoulder and bicep. Operation on Monday. Looking at 4 months #rugbyleaguesthewinner
