Wigan centre Anthony Gelling has guaranteed that the Warriors will make this year’s Grand Final.

Gelling, a popular figure on the Rugby League scene largely down to his various off-field antics – which recently included a spoof video featuring teammate Ryan Sutton, has always exuded confidence.

While that positivity may have been somewhat dented following Wigan’s comprehensive 40-10 defeat at the hands of Warrington, it failed to change Gelling’s opinion on Wigan’s destiny in 2016.

“We’ll win some and we’ll lose some, but we will be at Old Trafford at the end of the year, 100%,” he said.

“Even though we’ve just copped a flogging, we’ll play these guys again soon.”

Asked what made him so confident in his bold prediction, Gelling pointed to his hand.

“I’ve got an itchy finger right over here, it needs a ring on it to put it right,” making reference to a Grand Final winners ring.

“To go to the Grand Finals in the last two years; Wellens goes on to retire and beat us and then Sinfield does the same. They’ve got their feet up now with my ring on and I can’t get it back. We’ve just got to move on but we’ll get our chance again this year.”

And while he was in the mood to make predictions, Gelling admitted he can envisage meeting Warrington again in Super League’s showpiece event.

“They’re definitely going to be a team to beat,” he said.

“They’re too versatile, they’ve got guys like Gidley and Ratchford who can play everywhere and that makes them hard to beat. They’re definitely going to be there at the end.”
