Just days after the departure of coach Paul Anderson and assistant Kieron Purtill, it appears the Giants are set for another blow with the departure from the first-team setup.
Reports are linking centre and Scotland international Joe Wardle with a move away from the club, with the NRL being touted as a possible location.
Wardle is being heavily linked with a move to Newcastle Knights, a move TotalRL understands will be completed later this month.
If true, it would be a huge blow for the Giants and any prospective new coach coming into the club, as Wardle is undoubtedly a key part of the Giants side.
He has become a crucial asset for the club since joining from Bradford several years ago, and with him heading to Australia, it makes any coach’s job harder coming into the John Smith’s Stadium planning for next season.
