Salford Red Devils would be interested in the services of England international Brett Ferres if his suspension from Huddersfield results in him leaving the West Yorkshire club.
It is still unclear whether Ferres will leave the Giants after being suspended by the club last week pending an internal investigation.
However, League Express understands that if Ferres’ future lies away from Huddersfield, Salford would be interested in making a play for his services.
A number of clubs are understood to monitoring the understandably delicate situation carefully, so that if the 29-year-old leaves the Giants, they could be in a position to strike.
Salford have recruited heavily for 2016, but they are believed to have the capacity to strike up a deal for Ferres, despite him having four years left on his deal at Huddersfield.
They have brought in the likes of Justin Carney, Robert Lui and Daniel Vidot for 2016 as well as a number of experienced Super League players, but Ian Watson confirmed to League Express earlier this month that they were still on the hunt for more recruits, which he wanted to be completed before the end of the year.
