Hull FC boss Lee Radford has told local media that the club could be on the verge of announcing a ‘major coup’ in the coming days – with an international forward from the NRL set to sign on the dotted line.
Radford – who has endured a difficult first full season in charge of the club – has likened the signing to former NRL star and current Hull FC man Gareth Ellis – but would not be drawn on the name of the man in question.
“Hopefully we’ll have another back-rower over the line over the next 24 hours of the same calibre as Gareth Ellis,” he told the Hull Daily Mail.
“He’s a very experienced international from the NRL. We’re fighting off a bit of competition from clubs over there, some very successful clubs over recent years.
“So if we get him, it’ll be a real major coup.”
