Hull FC wing duo derby doubts

Lee Radford could still be without Mahe Fonua and Fetuli Talanoa for Hull FC’s showdown with fierce rivals KR on Friday.

The two wingers didn’t feature as Hull returned to winning ways against Wakefield last week. Fonua hasn’t featured at all since the opening day victory over Salford Red Devils while Talanoa suffered a concussion in defeat to Widnes almost two weeks ago.

Both players will be given until Thursday to prove their fitness.

Speaking to the Hull Daily Mail, Radford said: “All of our fitness tests will be done on Thursday, and we’ll finalise our team then 24 hours before the game.

“Mahe was back in team training yesterday. If he’s not there, he’ll be there or thereabouts.

“I’ll name my 19-man squad tomorrow, but I wouldn’t read too much into that. On Thursday we will name the best 17-man squad that I think can get us a key result.”

As for Talanoa, Radford commented: “It was a serious knock that he took and we’ll just have to wait and see. We don’t know with Fetuli (Talanoa). We will give him until as late as possible,” Radford added.

“There are a lot of protocols with the head tests. Like always, we’ll leave that until the last minute.”
