Hull FC’s Rankin targeting fullback role in 2015

Hull FC’s Jordan Rankin has set his sights on the fullback role for the club in 2015, after admitting it’s the position he wants to play more than any other.

Rankin played at the back during FC’s 13-12 defeat to Wigan last Friday in the absence of Jamie Shaul – but he could return for this Friday’s home clash against Catalans Dragons.

With plenty of competition for the No.1 shirt expected in the coming weeks, Rankin wants to lay down a marker and cement his position as Lee Radford’s first choice fullback.

“I’ve made it clear I want to play full-back this year and be in that starting 13, now I will do all I can to do that. I’m not going to stop until I get that role,” he told the Hull Daily Mail.

“Jamie (Shaul) may be back this week and he’ll want to take the spot, the same goes for Curtis (Naughton).

“I have to deal with the pressure for those spots, put my best foot forward, take care of my game and help the team when I get my chances.”
