I love playing with Smith, says Wakefield captain

Wakefield Trinity Wildcats captain Danny Kirmond admits it’s great to have Tim Smith back at the club – and has backed him to show Salford what they are missing when he takes to the field against them today.

Smith is currently on loan at the Wildcats from Salford after a difficult spell at the Red Devils at the beginning of the season. And Kirmond insisted that it’s great to be playing alongside one of his partners in crime again – admitting he’s a better player when Smith is on the field.

“It’s a good opportunity for Tim to show Salford what they were missing. he’s a great player but he just didn’t fit at Salford. That’s a shame for them, but it isn’t for us – because he’s so good,” he said.

“It’s great to have him back here. I think we really compliment each other well and we have a good understanding of each other. I definitely missed him in my game when he was away, and it didn’t take it long for it to click again. He definitely makes me a better player – I’d hope he’d say the same about me too!

“It’s great for him to be back; he’s a top player and he really helps the team all across the park.”
