Luke Walsh ‘on the mend’, says Nathan Brown

St Helens head coach Nathan Brown has revealed that star playmaker Luke Walsh is “on the mend”, as he battles to fight back from a calf injury.

The Aussie has arguably been the standout player in the competition since arriving from the NRL, but he was forced off during the Saints’ victory over Catalan with the injury, which initially ruled him out for between four and six weeks.

Brown’s comments will spark hope the Australian half-back could be back in action sooner, rather than later, whilst Jordan Turner still has an outside chance of being fit for the huge Challenge Cup tie against Huddersfield next weekend.

“Luke is heading in the right direction, as is Jordan Turner, but we’re not really going to have any idea about our cup side until next week,” Brown said.

“We definitely won’t be anywhere near full strength. There’s no doubt about that. Every coach just wants to have their best shot at the cup with their best players and I’m no different.”
