Super League’s Magic Weekend will be looking for a fourth home next year, after it was revealed the event will not be staged at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester, according to the Manchester Evening News.
Manchester City – tenants of the Etihad – are at home in the final week of the Premier League season and building work at the site will commence immediately after that game, meaning the stadium cannot be used.
Super League clubs will reportedly meet at Headingley on Monday to discuss an alternative venue just for 2015. There are options open to them for a replacement venue, including Newcastle, Cardiff, Edinburgh and Coventry.
However, it is still possible that Magic Weekend can come back to Manchester in the future, after the roaring success of the event over the last few years.
