Magic Weekend perfect tonic for struggling Bradford Bulls

Bradford Bulls captain Matt Diskin is certain that the upcoming Magic Weekend will provide a great opportunity for the club to face a different kind of challenge, as their woes at the bottom of the table continue.

After back-to-back wins, the Bulls slumped to a 50-0 defeat to high-flying St Helens last weekend. Last year the Bulls were beaten heavily by Huddersfield Giants – their opponents this Sunday – at Magic, but Diskin is relishing getting out on the Etihad Stadium turf once again.

“This game has come at the right time for us,” said Diskin. “We are just coming off a bad loss and we need something different to focus ourselves on, and there is nothing better than the Magic Weekend.

“It is a fantastic event. To play in a new stadium that you’re not used to and to get to play in front of really big crowds, it is something that every player looks forward to.

“Particularly those who don’t get to experience finals very often, this is the closest atmosphere you are going to get to it.

“From that aspect, it gives everybody a unique experience. And if you are a Rugby League fan as well, it is a great event. To bring the sport, as a whole to one stadium, and to have over 60,000 fans all sharing the same experience, it is all unique.
