Scott Dureau applauds Magic Weekend concept

Catalan Dragons half-back Scott Dureau believes the upcoming Magic Weekend is something that the English game should be applauded for – admitting he is a huge fan of the unique concept.

Dureau – who is still sidelined with an arm injury – described the concept as “fantastic”, and admits there is no other sport that could replicate the Magic Weekend in any way, shape or form.

“It’s unique to any sport; I don’t know of any other sport where you have all the teams playing each other in one weekend at one stadium,” Dureau said.

“I think it’s brilliant, and the English game should be commended for doing it. Ever since I’ve watched it on TV or being involved in it I thought it was an absolutely fantastic concept.

“We’re first up against London on Saturday, so the boys are pumped to get out there and put on a real good show. After a tough loss against Warrington on Friday night we need to bounce back – and that starts at Magic Weekend on Saturday.”

He also admitted that the Dragons are beginning to find their feet in Super League, after a slow start which saw them being discussed as relegation candidates at one point. He said: “The boys are really starting to find their confidence again; we were really low at the start of the season but we’ve gone on a good run of late. We know we can compete with anyone if we’re on our game.”
