Marshall rules out Bradford switch

Halifax head coach Richard Marshall has ruled himself out of the running for the vacant Bradford Bulls job.

Marshall, who has overseen three consecutive derby day victories for Fax over their local rivals, was named as one of the favourites to take the job.

The former Warrington assistant has been in charge at part-time Halifax since the start of the 2015 season and was named the Championship coach of the year in his maiden season following Halifax’s finish in the top four and subsequent sixth-placed finish in the Qualifiers.

His success has seen him linked with numerous jobs over the last six months, but Marshall insists that he still has a job to complete at Fax.

“I’m really comfortable at Halifax,” said Marshall.

“I’m enjoying what I’m doing here at Halifax, albeit it is part-time. One day I would like to be coaching in a full-time environment, but I’ve still got a job to do here.

“The club has invested in me and vice versa. I’ve got to look to see this gig out and see where I can take this team. Is there potential for me to move on one day? Yes, maybe there would be if the right position became available, but I’m really happy at Halifax at the moment.”

Marshall’s commitment comes as a great boost for Halifax ahead of their Championship game with Dewsbury, with both teams looking to reassert their pursuit of a top-four finish.

Halifax are currently sixth in the Championship, two points behind the fourth-placed Bulls.

Bradford are still on the hunt for a new head coach, with Glenn Morrison, Scott Naylor and former head coach Brian Noble three of the favourites.
