McCormack backs Scotland to improve

Scotland head coach Steve McCormack praised his side, but acknowledged that improvement was needed.

The Bravehearts stemmed the tide to eventually end on the wrong side of a 52-12 scoreboard against Australia.

Having conceded over a point per minute during the first-half, an improved second-half display restricted the Kangaroos’ opportunities.

Although the scoreline did end respectable, McCormack was still disappointed with elements of the performance.

“The start of the game killed us a little bit,” said McCormack.

“We sat back and Australia played flat and fast and executed their plays really well.

“The way we dug in for the last 15 minutes of the first half set bit of a tone for the second half and our lads certainly got better as the game went on.

“We ran out of steam with our bench towards the end. It was a tough night but we’ll get better.”
