McGillvary the hero in crucial Giants win

Jermaine McGillvary’s late try earned Huddersfield Giants a crucial 24-19 win over London Broncos.

Morgan Smith’s field goal had put the away side in front with seven minutes to play but McGillvary was on hand to win it for the Giants with three minutes to go.

London started the brightest and led 8-0 after Kieran Dixon’s penalty and Jay Pitts’ try.

But the Giants would lead 12-8 at the interval after Alex Mellor crossed and Scott Grix finished off a good move involving Innes Senior.

Rhys Williams’ interception brought London back into the game before the Giants replied through McGillvary.

Ryan Morgan’s try and Smith’s one-pointer had the away side on course for victory but McGillvary’s last-gasp effort was enough for the Giants.
