Rugby League given Irish recognition

Rugby League Ireland (RLI) has been recognised as a National Governing Body by the Irish Sports Council.

The recognition allows the RLI to be able to apply for funding and to further develop the sport throughout Ireland. They are now also free to engage with the National Sports Campus Development Authority, the Federation of Irish Sports, local sports partnerships, and the Department of Tourist, Transport and Sport.

RLI Chairman Dr Mick Molloy said: “This is a massive boost for the sport in Ireland following the recent World Cup we can now develop the game further.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Sports Council for their assistance throughout the process and of course our volunteers and staff who have worked hard at securing this recognition.”
