St Helens scored some fine tries tonight at Langtree Park to register a convincing 32-12 victory over Salford Red Devils, for whom Rangi Chase made a tryscoring return after having served a seven-match suspension.
Winger Tommy Makinson and fullback Shannon McDonnell were in particularly fine form for St Helens, with Makinson scoring two tries, and McDonnell one, while the fullback made a superb break to create Saints’ second try by winger Adam Swift, with Jordan Turner scoring Saints’ other try.
Salford tries had all night, and after being 24-0 at half-time they recovered to 24-12 with tries from Niall Evalds and Chase, both converted by Cory Paterson.
But Makinson’s penalty and McDonnell’s converted try put the game to bed for the home side.
A full report and photos from this game will feature in Monday’s edition of League Express.
