Tigers take the points from Hull KR

Castleford Tigers got off to a blistering start tonight at the KC Lightstream Stadium to lead Hull Kingston Rovers 18-0 after 14 minutes with tries from Ben Roberts, who was playing in the unaccustomed position of fullback for the Tigers, Denny Solomona and Oliver Holmes.

And, despite a spirited fightback from the Robins, they could never get back on terms, eventually falling to a 22-30 home defeat that now sees them four points outside the top eight.

Rovers fought back to trail by just 16-24 after 33 minutes with two tries by Albert Kelly and one by Kieran Dixon, with Dixon adding two goals, after Luke Gale had scored a superb team try for the Tigers, with Gale having converted all four tries.

Aaron Ollett’s try on 55 minutes reduced the gap to two points, but the Robins couldn’t add to their score, and it was the Tigers who completed the scoring when Liam Finn went over shortly before the end of the game as Rovers’ captain Terry Campese limped from the field – an ominous injury for Hull KR.

A full report and photos from this game will feature in Monday’s edition of League Express.
