Sam Tomkins trained with the Wigan Warriors team for the first time this year as his road to recovery nears an end.
The England international has not featured for Wigan since returning to the club from NRL side New Zealand Warriors at the end of last season due to an ongoing ankle injury.
However, Wigan head coach Shaun Wane confirmed that the England international returned to training with the first team at the start of this week and is set to make his second debut in May.
Meanwhile, stand-off George Williams could play in Wigan’s top of the table showdown with Warrington this week.
Williams has been struggling with a back problem but is set to return to the squad after Anthony Gelling and Ben Flower made their returns last week.
Wane said: “We need to be crisp in attack. Having George back in training will help.”
