Sarginson faces difficult challenge to succeed in the NRL

Gold Coast Titans coach Neil Henry says Dan Sarginson has a tough job on his hands stepping up to the intensity of the NRL.

The former Wigan man has arrived Down Under to get his pre-season underway with his new club, despite being given an extended period off due to his commitments to England in the Four Nations.

Sarginson heads to the NRL with a lot to prove, with very few English outside backs succeeding in the competition, although forwards such as Sam Burgess and James Graham have found success.

Henry admitted that for Sarginson to make the grade he will have to up his game.

“Sarginson needs to step up. That’s going to be his challenge and that’s what he’s looking forward to,” he told The Courier Mail.

“Tough footy every week which you don’t quite get in the English system.

“Hopefully we can see him and some of these young guys continue to step up.

“He hasn’t had a huge break but he was keen to get out here before Christmas and get settled.”
