Seven reasons to buy League Express

Is there ever a quiet week in Rugby League?

No, is the answer you’re looking for, and from our perspective, we wouldn’t have it any other way.

This week’s impressive 40-page edition features your usual popular features and stories; a player pushing for an international spot, Garry Schofield mercilessly ‘Pulling No Punches’ and news of more shenanigans at Salford.

And if that isn’t enough to tickle your taste buds, we’ve got an exclusive, extensive interview with the wonderful Lizzie Jones, along with much, much more.

We always feel generous on a Monday in the Total RL office, so we’ll treat you to seven reasons to buy this week’s League Express.

1, Drama and Salford just seem to go hand in hand these days. They picked up a crucial victory over Halifax at the weekend, but it was overshadowed first by the departure of head coach Iestyn Harris, but more so the suspension of maverick half-back Rangi Chase. What has he done? What are the implications? You’ll find out in this week’s League Express.

2, The big occasion of the week in many ways was Wigan Warriors’ ‘Capital Clash’ against Catalans Dragons. Over 8,000 people attended the match, the first ever at The Den, as the Warriors ran out 42-16 winners. We have all the reaction from officials and players involved.

3, Jermaine McGillvary’s exceptional year took another upwards stride as he produced yet another Gamestar performance against Castleford to almost cement Huddersfield a play-off berth in just a few week’s time. Plenty of people have called for an international call for the exciting winger, and now Joe Wardle, Paul Anderson and even our very own Martyn Sadler have been signing his praises in this week’s ‘Talking Rugby League.’

4, Despite the devastating performance of McGillvary, it wasn’t enough to change Garry Schofield’s mind about Huddersfield’s Grand Final aspirations. In this week’s ‘Pulling No Punches,’ one of Rugby League’s greats explains why he doesn’t feel Huddersfield have what it takes.

5, There’s been a vast array of activity for clubs outside the top flight in the past week. We’ve got the latest news from the likes of Leigh, Bradford and Sheffield, plus some tasty transfer rumours from Halifax and Batley.

6, As always, we pride ourselves on bringing you the best reaction to all the games around the country. This week is no different, and our reporters have been in top form documenting all the games, including Leigh’s first win of the Qualifiers and Widnes’ hammering of Bradford.

7, This week’s paper is special for many reasons, but none more so than the exclusive interview with Lizzie Jones. It’s a moving, heartfelt piece that once again reveals just how special she and the Rugby League community really is. This isn’t one to miss.
