Tigers coaching trio get thumbs up from Gale

Castleford and England half-back Luke Gale has paid tribute to the influence Castleford’s coaches have had on his career and form in 2015 – and not just head coach Daryl Powell.

Gale frequently admitted in the past that a major factor in his decision to join the Tigers this year was down to the experienced halves the club possessed on its coaching setup.

Powell, a former Great Britain half-back himself, is assisted by ex-Super League half-backs Danny Orr and Ryan Sheridan too, and after his form earned him selection for the 24-man England squad for this autumn’s internationals, Gale admitted the trio have helped him no end.

“Daryl Powell has helped me a lot this year and helped me improve my game in all different aspects,” said Gale.

“He has brought a bit of patience to my game. He has some great staff behind him with Danny Orr and Ryan Sheridan and he has brought a lot of different plays into my game and opened my eyes to different ways to play the game.

“He has been really good.”
