Castleford Tigers, in partnership with the Christchurch at the Xscape leisure complex, will be supporting the Smawthorne Community Church food bank this Christmas.
The food bank is a system whereby basic food items are collected and distributed to people in need at times of crisis. It has helped many people in Castleford and the surrounding area since its opening in June 2013.
The food bank is based at the Smawthorne Community Church, Beancroft Road, and is being run by volunteers from the church, with support from other churches in Castleford.
Steve Gill, Castleford Tigers CEO, said: “Christmas is an important time of year when we all come together with our loved ones, friends and family, but it’s important we don’t forget about those less fortunate than ourselves at this time. Our 2015 season tickets are available for collection from Monday 16th December from the Tiger Bar here at the Jungle, and we’re asking all fans if they can to bring along a non-perishable food donation.”
The Tigers will have a collection point in the Tiger Bar at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle. The collection point will be open from 16th December to 19th December.
