Todd Carney not ruling out Super League stay

Todd Carney admits that his future is up in the air as he waits to find out if he can return to the NRL.

Halfback Carney, currently without a club after his release from Catalans, is in Australia attempting to resolve a dispute with former club Cronulla over his exit from the club.

The 30-year-old is keen on a return to the NRL, but must first be given approval by the NRL.

Speaking to Rugby League Week, Carney said: “I’d love to be in the NRL, but if it [playing again] means I go back to England I’m still in contact with a couple of clubs there.

“Everyone’s hopeful and I’ve had a lot of support, but it’s up to the bosses who run the game.

“But until this Sharks stuff is over, which will hopefully be soon so we can move on, until that’s finished I’m still in the unknown.

“I just need to focus on this and after the fight I’ll go back home and spend some time with mum and my sisters over Christmas and then I’ll make a decision and I’ll see what I have to do to hopefully be playing here in Australia or over in England.”
