Two week break will suit Ta’ai, says Anderson

Huddersfield coach Paul Anderson believes in-form back-rower Ukuma Ta’ai will be on fire against Widnes on Sunday thanks to a two-week break.

The Tongan World Cup star strained his groin a fortnight ago and was not risked in round 23 against Wakefield. With a week off for the Challenge Cup, Anderson believes he will be at his peak when the Giants take on the Vikings in round 24.

“Ukuma picked up a groin injury in our win over Catalan,” said Anderson.

“Although he was initially in our 19-man squad for Wakefield, we decided to withdraw him because we felt there was no point risking him.

“We do have some strong options in the back row, which was again evident with the way we played at Wakefield last weekend.

“But it’ll be good to get Ukuma back in contention for selection, and hopefully the break will help him keep on improving and give the team even more when he returns.”
