Wakefield Trinity Wildcats’ injury crisis is so bad that the club could potentially be down to their last 17 fit bodies to face Wigan on Friday night.
Coach James Webster revealed that of the 19-man squad he named on Wednesday for the game, one member of that group has pulled out due to injury – although he would not name the player.
That leaves 18, and with the Wildcats sweating on Max Jowitt’s head test that he will need to undertake to play in the game, Webster has insisted it might be time to look in the crowd and find someone with a pair of boots!
“There’s another one pulled out today, I’m not going to tell you who,” he said. “We’ve got 17 or 18 people to take to the game.
“Max Jowitt, who’s only 17, hasn’t trained yet but he will be in the squad if he passes his head test.
“If we get any more injuries this week, I’ll have to go into the crowd and ask if anyone wants a game.”
