Wales overcome Serbia in World Cup Qualifier

Wales blitzed Serbia with nine tries this afternoon at Stebonheath Park in Llanelli, defeating their East European opponents 50-0 in a result that means that their clash with Italy in Monza in two weeks’ time will probably decide which country progresses to the final stages of the 2017 World Cup.

Welsh wingers Rhys Williams and Regan Grace scored two tries each, as did halfback Ollie Olds.

Other tries were scored by Courtney Davies, Andrew Gay and Gil Dudson.

Lloyd White added four goals, while Davies added three.

The Serbians started the game well and were competitive until Grace scored Wales’ third try after 28 minutes, but they then found it difficult to hold the enthusiastic Welsh team.

Their cause wasn’t aided when Pero Madžarević was sinbinned on 51 minutes.
