Wane will be watching Rugby World Cup

Wigan Warriors coach Shaun Wane has revealed that he will be tuning into the Rugby World Cup when it gets under way this weekend.

Wane has openly spoken in the past of his interest in attracting players from other codes – and he says he’ll be watching the 15-man tournament to look at potential players.

However, Wane will only have a passing interest in the fortunes of the home nations as he focuses his attention on the minnows for potential recruits.

“I think some of the (big-name) players are out of our reach,” Wane said.

“If it’s Romania versus Canada, though, I’ll watch and, if I saw any players that would suit us, I’m very keen to go down that road.

“I take the goodness out of every game I see. I watch from a pure coaching point of view so I look to see if any of the players would fit us.”
