Warrington boss frustrated after ‘clunky’ game

Warrington Head Coach Steve Price was left disappointed by his side’s 18-8 defeat to Wakefield in a ‘clunky’ and ‘frustrating’ game.

Warrington led early in the second half when Stefan Ratchford scored and converted a try but two scores for Trinity snatched the points away from the Wolves.

“It was a clunky game. There was no tempo or flow,” Price said.

“We couldn’t generate any ruck speed. We didn’t get as much field position as we’d have liked. When we got it, we should have executed better.

“I thought our tactical discipline with the ball let us down in crucial parts of the game. Our discipline at times wasn’t at the races.”

Warrington were able to hand a long-awaited debut to marquee signing Gareth Widdop and Price gave his thoughts on his performance.

“It was his first hit out. I thought he showed some really good touches and he’s only going to get better.”
