Warrington-Castleford could be a Magic highlight, says Shenton

Castleford Tigers captain Michael Shenton believes that his side’s Magic Weekend clash with Warrington could be one of the standout games of the weekend.

The Tigers lock horns with the Wolves at 4:45pm in game two of the annual bash at St James’ Park and, although he is out injured, Shenton believes that the opportunity to take on the table-topping Wolves represents a fixture that could be one of the weekend’s highlights.

“You’d think our game would be one of the highlights,” he said.

“Warrington have been the best team this year for me; the players they’ve brought in have clicked and Daryl Clark has found his game. They’ve got some real talented players and they’re playing well but we’re in a good place, I think.

“Warrington getting beaten by Wakey has probably hurt us because they’ll be desperate to stay at the top of the table. We’re hitting decent form and we’re confident coming here.

“We’ve done some good stuff at the Magic Weekend in the last three years; we’ve bought into the concept of it all and the atmosphere.

“We’ll be confident but we’ve got to show the attitude we have done in the last couple of games to make sure we make a bit of a statement. There’s no excuses anymore, we’ve a strong team out and it’s time to show what we’re made of.”
