Warrington Wolves targeting top two, says Westwood

Warrington Wolves co-captain Ben Westwood insists a top two finish is their target from the remaining three games of the season, as they gear up for a charge towards a third successive Super League Grand Final.

The Wolves are handily placed amongst a clutch of six teams who can still finish top of the tree in 2014 – with tonight’s game against Huddersfield a hugely significant game in the race for league positions. And Westwood believes any of the top teams can still claim top spot – with Warrington themselves after a home tie in the first round of the play-offs.

“The competition is anyone’s. We can still potentially finish top,” he told the club’s official website. “We want to be first or second and get a home playoff in the first round.

“The league is getting better each year and I’d like to think it’s the so-called lower teams getting better which is great for the game and the competition. It will be interesting to see what happens next year with the new structure of the league.”
