Castleford vs Hull KR – Albert Kelly
After being the subject of intense media speculation recently, Kelly did his talking on the field with a fine performance in Hull KR’s thrashing of Castleford.
Reports had surfaced suggesting Kelly had refused to play for the club, but those suggestions were silenced emphatically as he put the Tigers to the sword.
From orchestrating his side and pumping holes in the Tigers’ defence to torturing Castleford with his kicking game and offering resolute defence, he was simply brilliant.
Catalans vs Salford – Todd Carney
Carney put in an exceptional performance to help the Dragons to another victory.
He provided another two assists for his team and ran the show throughout.
A simply superb player.
St Helens vs Leeds – Jonny Lomax
Wasn’t it great to see him back?
Watching Lomax produce such a crucial contribution in his first match for over a year was sensational, and even brought a tear to the eye of Keiron Cunningham!
Two tries, a last-ditch intervention and a League Express cover star. Not a bad week for Lomax.
Wakefield vs Hull FC – Fetuli Talanoa
It’s hard to ignore a player that scores four tries.
Talanoa hadn’t scored for six matches ahead of this, but he ended his drought in style as he took his tally for the year to seven.
Warrington vs Widnes – Kurt Gidley
For the second time this year, Gidley put on a dazzling display at Widnes as the Wolves ran riot.
Not only did he open the scoring, but he created a number of other tries and kicked seven conversions from as many attempts.
His mesmeric performance was a big reason why Warrington recaptured their best form in attack.
Wigan vs Huddersfield – Anthony Gelling
Gelling was superb on his return as he scored and caused Huddersfield problems throughout.
The centre is a big character and a pleasure to watch on the field. His offloads caused havoc and Huddersfield couldn’t get through his sound defence.
