Wigan likely to switch regular season game to London

Wigan Warriors chairman Ian Lenagan has revealed that he’s hopeful of the club hosting another game in London in 2016, but has said that it might be a regular Super League game rather than a Super 8s fixture.

The Warriors attracted a crowd of over 8,000 to Millwall last year for their Super 8s clash against Catalans, and Wigan are likely to go back to the same ground after the success of last year’s event.

And Lenagan admitted that there’s still some things that need to be sorted out before they can confirm their return to the capital, but says there are advantages in holding a regular season game in London as opposed to a game after the split.

“We’re close to it,” he told WiganToday.net.

“We need to speak some more but we need want it to be a regular season game, rather than a Super 8s game, because it would give us more time to market the game and sell tickets.”
