Wigan prepare for Wales trip after England internationals return

Wigan’s five England internationals reported back for pre-season training this week, and Shaun Wane is taking them to Wales.

Wane has organised an intense three-day camp in the valleys to get preparations for the 2016 season up and running for the likes of John Bateman, Liam Farrell and Sean O’Loughlin while Matty Smith and George Williams will also take part in the camp alongside their teammates.

“We’ll have three days on the field, the internationals are back in now after a good break so we’ll have all the squad together,” Wane told Wigan Today.

“History tells me they needed a proper break from the game after the autumn internationals, and they’ve had that and now they’re back in.

“Having so many international players is great for us as a club, but not really as a team, so we’ve got to make sure we manage it and make the best of it.

“Going away gives us a chance to have three intense days, and get some good time on the field.”
