Winning start for England Youth

THE England Youth team accounted for South Africa Youth 32-4 in the opening match of their two-Test tour, at Harlequins RUFC, Pretoria.

England got off the mark on 11 minutes with a try for Matt Henson, with Dominic Wear adding the first of his three conversions.

Gerhard Henning hit back for the hosts three minutes later, but that was to be South Africa’s last score.

The tourists went in at the break 16-4 ahead, courtesy of touchdowns for Charlie Tomlinson and Connor Ratcliffe, and the lead was extended a couple of minutes after the resumption through a try by Joey Brady.

Wear converted his own score five minutes shy of the hour, and an impressive performance was wrapped up when Mark Nicholson crossed in injury time, Henson adding the extras on this occasion.
